This is actually a really good video. I hope we get to see a top ten list of your favorite dkc musical tracks and if people give you hell for not putting aquatic ambience and stickerbrush symphony high on your list than fuck'em. I swear to god if animal antics makes your list with regards to your favorite dk levels, I will fly to winnipeg directly to smite you. Animal antics has been the bane of my existence and my most horrible memory regarding anything donkey kong country related. I literally lost over 50 lives trying to beat that level. It isn't fair for me to come up with my own list because I still need to play donkey kong country 3, but out of the levels mentioned snowbarrell blast has a huge importance in the series to me because it really made me fall in love with the games graphics because I was completely blown away with how the backgrounds look and how the snowfall transitioned from the background to the foreground and once the snowfall hit the foreground it made the level that much more difficult which I really appreciated.

+TheCompletionist I will definitely have to keep a top 10 DKC musical tracks in mind for the future. There's no doubt about it that the series has my favourite non-Shimomura created soundtracks. As far as Animal Antics goes, don't worry, it won't be in part 2. Fact is the only part of that level that appreciate as being creative is Squaks' section. Frustrating, but i laughed out loud when i realized what was happening the first time i came upon it.

Its just unfortunate that the squaks section is creative as it is has some of the most controller throwing inducing level design I've ever had the misfortune of enduring.

In a snowbound land is my favorite stage theme in DKC2.Its very calm and cool and has a stage thats just insane.

It's cool man, my favourite track from the DKC trilogy is Mining Melancholy, also I'm not a fan of Aquatic Ambiance as a stand alone track, I think it's an amazing ambiant track but I don't really want to listen to it when I'm not playing the game. I also like Lockjaw Saga's remake in Irate Eight and StickerBush Symphony. Tho my favourite tracks are from Tropical Freeze : Windmill Hills, Homecoming Hijinx, Acqueduct Assault, Staff Roll, Wing Ding, Frantic Fields, Sorch'N'Torch, Cannon Canyon, Fruity Factory, Punch Bowl! Also Snow Barrel Blast is the best DKC 1 level...

Another great video, VZed! Can't wait for the rest! I was wondering, since it's mentioned quite a bit in this video - do you have any insight as to why these games (DKC, DKC2, and DKC3) have so many short cuts or hidden passages to the end of their levels in them? It seems to be so particular and even almost iconic to this series, and was curious if you had any thoughts as to why the programmers would have included so many of them. Also, nice Myst plug. Myst is awesome~ :D

+Morty the Cannibal I honestly i have no idea why they designed the levels that way, but i'm sure it has something to do with play testers coming back to the devs and being "yo, wtf" and having the short cuts as not just a surprise, but a pleasant surprise. I mean, ultimately it created such a sub culture around the playground. I was in elementary school when these games were happening, and it was absolutely mindblowing hearing about these mythological secrets or short cuts that kept coming up in conversation. Whatever the reason, i'm super glad they made them that way.

Definitely, and I totally know what you mean! Back then, no internet meant learning all the secret short cuts by accident or through friends who had already figured it out, which was very cool. And yeah that makes sense, I didn't think about the play testing angle. Thanks for the thoughts and again, can't wait to hear your remaining top 10! :)

Well, "don't make videos anymore" is a strong way of putting it. I am working on things but a bunch of stuff has come up lately. There's something of an update on a video i released back in February. I thought i'd be able to follow it up quickly but, well here we are.
