This truly astonishing (and ambitious!) D Major sonata KV 284 is the last one of a set of 6 young W.A.Mozart used as demonstration pieces for his trip to Munich in 1775.
All six give us a 'state-of-the-art' menu cart of what was in fashion at the days. But the sixth sonata, the so-called 'Dürnitz-Sonata' (it was an assignment by a Baron von Dürnitz), overpowers about anything that was written in those days. It has the allure of a real pianoconcerto, with a very orchestral like opening, a rondo as middle section (!) and a set of 12 amazing variations.
