DILIJAN CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES
SEASON X
Concert 6- April 26, 2015
Zipper Hall, Los Angeles
The 10th Anniversary Season of the Dilijan Series (dilijan.larkmusicalsociety.com) features a remarkable lineup of universally admired artists of international reputation, such as violinists Ani and Ida Kavafian, violists Kim Kashkashian and Paul Coletti, cellists Clive Greensmith and Antonio Lysy, percussionist Kuniko Kato, soprano Tony Arnold, and clarinetist Michele Zukovsky, among others. In celebration of its anniversary, the Dilijan Series have commissioned ten new works, to be premiered throughout the season. Among the commissioned composers are the established Armenian masters, such as Tigran Mansurian, Ashot Zohrabian, Vache Sharafyan, Artur Avanesov, as well as young talented composers Ashot Kartalyan, Daniel Sedgwick, Aram Hovhannisyan, Kristapor Najarian, and Martin Ulikhanyan. At its December concert, the Dilijan Series will present 100 Years by Serj Tankian, the founder and lead singer of the System of a Down rock group. Written jointly with John Psathas, the piece is dedicated to the centennial commemoration of the Armenian Genocide.

Great piece. Love how the other three are rocking and rolling and the viola just nods a bit here and there.

Although I think Mozart had an extraordinary gift for the major keys, all of his works in minor keys are priceless. I appreciate the brightness of his light more because I know he knew the shadows of darkness. The most outstanding example I know of is his incomparable 23rd piano concerto.

Mozart is, by far, the darkest and most fatalistic of the three great composers. Beethoven shows human anger that inevitably ends in optimism and hope; in Bach there is a presence of some great power that supersedes the darkness. Mozart's happiest work is a film over a chasm and his dark works end, like life, in undramatic death.

I feel this is a romantic piece, taking all classic techniques and put it in the more modern of possible sounds. This is a masterpiece

Giant piece, played very well. The last movement was supposedly composed when his 1st son was born. Constanze's pain can be heard...

This ending haunts me. It sounds like a completely new piece is struggling to be born, something which is rather from the 20th than from the 18th century. However, it suddenly and unexpectedly ends as if even Mozart was shocked by the effect.

Beloved actor Gene Wilder mentions this piece in one of his three books: Kiss Me Like a Stranger; My French Whore; The Woman Who Wouldn't. Do him the honor, before this summer of his death ends, and read these beautifully written works.

Mozart's treatment of minor keys (specially white minor keys, like Gm/Dm etc) are something very special always though he was a Great Magician of Luminous Major Keys, but the darkness of minor keys became very soothing and soulful always with his works 💙❤️

Mozart shows me how far we have evolved as a species.
@ProdigyImprovisation
@ProdigyImprovisation 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jack-hy1zq We actually devolved, Mozart was always ahead of his time & still continues to be. The myth about Mozart being 200 years ahead of time is rather a misconception. I believe the truth is that he is forever ahead of his time, unless the human species decides to one day follow the natural flow of life & not disrupt themselves with too much junk. I think we will actually have a better chance of surviving for the sake of mankind’s wellbeing. In response to this, we can actually have the chance of evolving throughout the freedom expression of ourselves in art or whatever it may be. But in this way, Mozart will become more clear to us than ever before even though it can’t be replicated because another Mozart has to exist for this to happen. So in other words Mozart is eternally good & never goes bad or replicated until another one is born, this is however the choice of God himself, you see? This is where the misconception about Mozart being 200 years ahead of his time is only a devolved idea from a disrupted perspective of the world. But if it were from a pure idea perspective on behalf of the world, than the misconception of this would become very clear to the world. It’s like a veil being lifted off of a dirty filter from your eyes so that you can now finally see the truth for yourself.

@@ProdigyImprovisation You have squeezed a god into a human story. You can wax lyrical until the cows come home about Mozart being evidence for a god (of course, *your* particular god)...that is as ridiculous as saying cancer proves the devil. Hardly likely to convince a jury of your peers. Or anyone capable of rational thought.
