Yes! W.A.S.P. is an interesting band that has went through a lot of different phases throughout their career. This album (The Headless Children) was WASP's first album that dealt with more serious topics. Their first three albums had more of "party" vibe to them. A lot of the songs on this album deals with politics, war and social issues. The singer and songwriter, Blackie, is a very intelligent guy with a lot of intresting things to say. Since you liked this i really think you guys would appreciate the songs Unholy Terror and Charisma. The two songs are tied together, with Unholy Terror acting like an intro to Charisma. Someone made a lyrical video that combines them called "The truth behind the lyrics", or something like that, that you could check out.

I wouldn't call WASP's early albums "party". It was really more of a Conan the Barbarian-ish fantasy sex vibe when compared to something like Motley Crue or Ratt.

"Daffyproto" is the one You need to watch , it tells of the lyrics in the way the song is meant to be told/heard it can be found by typing what is in parentheses ( " " ) for those looking for it I'm not calling anyone stupid , this remark is not meant to be degrading it is meant to enlighten those who do not know I'm not a know it all , for those who wish to over react

Their best song off their best record. To me, WASP caught lightning in a bottle on "The Headless Children". It stands head and shoulders above anything else in their catalog. There's a desperate intensity here that takes the record beyond what people expected of them, and transcends their genre.

@Miserable Les Which one do you mean, Maiden or WASP? and in case of Maiden, did you mean Dickenson on vocals ( just noticed a live but havent heard it)? and in case of WASP, i havent heard any other version than studio

@DethronerX 5 жыл бұрын
@Miserable Les yeah i was confused which band you meant haha (because i know both songs) By Dickenson, i mean, i looked up for versions for both bands and i noticed a live video with Dickenson. Then i read your comment again and it said single version for WASP, i looked up but couldn't find it. Its an epic song and cutting it short kills the whole journey of it. If you have a link, just a "v=......" number, id love to check it out.

@Miserable Les Thanks for clearing it up. I'll look for WASP's cut down version and yeah, its "New" Morgue for W.A.S.P. and "Rue" for Maiden. I think you typed that by mistake.

W.A.S.P. - Babylons Burning. Blackie Lawless in recent years had re-found his religion. He is much more than his outward image. BTW - Pantera was once a "hair" band. Listen to anything off of their Power Metal album. Try "We'll Meet Again." And yes that the Phil Anselmo singing those higher, clean vocals.

YES! This is one of the best W.A.S.P songs, Blackie is still up&kicking and teaching the entire world how to be a multi-instrumentalist and a frontman. Their early albums are always milestones in mixture of shock&glam elements with oldschool heavy metal. Next time you should do Chainsaw Charlie off their The Crimson Idol album, the best and wholesome concept album in the entire heavy metal history imho. And guys, it's time you do ENTOMBED-LEFT HAND PATH. I will just keep pushing this no matter what. You just have to!

I grew up in the eighties and W.A.S.P. has always been one of my favorite bands during that period and also in my later life as the band seemed to evolve as I did. I think you guys would like Blackie Lawless, he's one of the coolest, most down to earth guys I've ever met and he is a born-again Christian. He was raised Christian and turned away from it as he became a rock star and due to some other issues in his life, but he has found Christ again and is very open about it. To the point that some people are saying that the band sold out due to their latest album having a heavy Christian theme to it. I say, kudos to Blackie for singing for what he believes in and not allowing the critics to dictate his art. Golgotha off the new album and The Headless Children from it's title album would be two good songs to react to. Vin, you will discover that there is a lot beneath the surface of W.A.S.P., all you have to do is look. Thanks for the reaction guys, cheers!

I've watched many reactions I'm doing my best to catch up... I've recently been digging in your old stuff including Tool, Schism. I think it's one of the best conversations you guys have ever had. I think it really helped and opening my eyes on how to perceive communication between myself and others. And even the Lord! Thanks for being open on your relationship on KZbin and keep the reactions coming... they're great!

Hey Vin and Sori just came across your channel recently, started to listen, and really have enjoyed your commentary so gave you guys some much-deserved likes and a sub. I also grew up in a very strict Christian conservative household, raised by my grandparents after my mom and dad divorced; so, I lived a very sheltered experience till I was about 16 when I started working after school and on the weekends. Not that I don't appreciate and love them for stepping in and up to raise me and my brother as we would have likely ended up in foster care if they hadn't, but I can relate to some of your experiences Sori. I moved out when I was 17 in '89, and the first three albums (cassette tapes) I bought with were G-n-R's Appetite for Destruction, Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime, and W.A.S.P.'s The Headless Children. I played Appetite for Destruction and The Headless Children so much, I wore the tape on the cassettes out and had to buy them again, lol! The whole Headless Children is great, but besides The Heretic track, there are three others that really stick out... The Headless Children, Thunderhead, and The Neutron Bomber. By the way, I watched your first time listening to G-n-R, and Patience off the Lies album is not a good representation of the band's "style." I recommend something off their "debut" album, Appetite for Destruction like Welcome to the Jungle, Night Train, Rocket Queen, or Mr. Brownstone. Anyways, keep doing what you do. When I get some more time, I'll have to check out the fireside chats and y'all's website. Peace and love.

An excerpt from a interview from "Brave Words" The whole crack epidemic was just getting started, and living in LA, I was watching the news and seeing reports on kids dropping like flies.” Lawless says of what inspired the song, and ultimately the album. “I don’t take drugs, so if you’re not into the drug culture you’re like the last guy to hear what’s going on. By the time something gets to television it’s usually old news anyway. But, I was seeing this thing called crack and thinking ‘What in the world is this?’ I was starting to see the rise of gang warfare in Los Angeles like I’d never seen before. You had drugs and money, and one was fuelling the other until things were out of control. That was the whole idea of the song ‘The Heretic'; it was literally based on fear. It was asking the question ‘Where are we going?'”

I voted for this one on the website many times. Glad you did it. They were very big early 90's. Late 80s. They had a lot of issues with freedom of speach and we're one of the reasons for the parental warnings on albums. I remember trying to buy this plus other records when I was 17-18 yrs old and had to get someone to buy it for me (like booze). It's normal now but it was a huge deal at the time.

You want to check out the Neon God concept albums ('The Rise' & 'The Demise') which is about an abused orphan who realises he has the power to manipulate people and forms his own ministry believing he is God, before his inevitable fall. The Crimson Idol is a similar theme but about a rockstar. Both brilliant in different ways, the latter being the earlier and far more popular album. Neon God was in my opinion the thematically deeper and far longer story, but I think both are excellent.

There has been many interpretations of what the band’s name stands for (if anything). The most known are ”White Anglo-Saxon Protestants” and ”We Are Sexual Perverts”.

Blackie is one bad mother trucker! His lyrics and his vocals, in my opinion rival Dio's. The way he can reach farther into his soul than anyone else. Wrestle out the most heartbreaking in one song most heartfelt in another. Miss you, Locomotive man, Unholy Terror, Charisma. I could go on and on!
