Taiwan will take a longer time than Singapore, bcos of your political climate. Green, Blue, Red with some blue mixed with Red & white mixed in Red. None of these policies can get through effective.

True...though depends on the policy too because the same-sex marriage miraculously got approved pretty fast back in 2018, making Taiwan the very first ASIAN [counting the Russian Far East, South Asia, Middle East, and also the Caucasus] despite some opposition from folks who have a more "conservative" view of marriage, LOL! Anyway, the bilingual or even multilingual policy should be fully implemented within a reasonable amount of time because EVERYONE, regardless of political affiliation, do want to be able to speak English & other major world languages fluently!

@@rainmanben However, with technological advances, one can learn a foreign language and be fluent at it via online programs & softwares like Rosetta Stone, Babbel or Duolingo etc...if one has the will and motivation!

@yapsweeheong1579 方言放弃与否是你自己与你的家族之间的问题，新加坡政府从没阻止人民与家人用方言，请不要动不动就把自己不愿努力的那一部分推给别人，我与我的家人与亲戚皆用方言沟通，对其他的人一概讲华语或英语。 “讲华语运动"僅旨在鼓励新加坡华人以华语为沟通语言，这其实也打破了个别方言群体间的隔阂！像我儿时60年代期间小孩群在玩乐时，会有广东小孩只跟广东小孩玩在一块，海南小孩只跟海南小孩玩在一块，因为大家玩乐时在用自己熟悉的方言做交流，除非个别小孩能快速的学习这个群的方言方能融入。上了学校后不能讲方言反而全部小孩都能自然融入相互交朋友。

新加坡教育長大的，中學都有英國劍橋Olevel 水準，我的孩子從小五就送新加坡讀書直到澳洲大學，IELTS 也有7分，英文棒棒的。台灣國中生，教出的英文，什麼考認証，只有兒童美語水準吧！別浪費錢了，直接送國外留學吧！ O水準是每科都是全英文教育，數學地理，歷史，化學，老師只用英文上課。

Don't forget that Singapore's official language is English and that it is a British Commonwealth nation after all because of its British colonial past. There is a Bilingual School in Hsinchu, Taiwan. This school is also fully immersive with courses conducted in English. However, only students whose parents work in Hsinchu's Industrial & Technology Park can attend :(!

新加坡有讲英语的环境，台湾只能和大陆一样，学哑巴英文，只能读和写，口语就差多了.

台灣講英文的地方變多, 因為很多觀光客, 外籍居留者或外籍勞工只講英文.

是的，新加坡是多元种族的国家。常常都要和不同种族的国人沟通。英文不进步都难。

@@Wahlaoeh In reality, Hong Kong isn't fully bilingual. Only those that have received an university level education and/or have studied abroad are completely fluent in English. For non-Cantonese speakers, a rudimentary knowledge of Cantonese is still required for daily living and interaction with locals!

新加坡马来西亚是英联邦国家，之前被英国统治，然后教育，法律，方方面面都是接轨英国的，香港也是这个原因，英很好台湾就是非常传统的华人社会，根本没有英语作为双语的基础

Though Taiwan has been changing gradually with Southeast Asian migrants and non-Chinese-speakers who have decided to make Taiwan their home! In fact, because of its current political system; in some ways, Taiwan is more "diverse" than Singapore and Hong Kong despite not having a tradition of using English in everyday life!
