Whew! So much good stuff in this tape. Talk about back door entry to a town that line slink's in then goes by the odd angle building and next to a neat industrial diamond. A a friend of mine would say a scene like that is Titzoid to the max. The Drone view absolutely enhances the uniqueness. Then the nice view along the river and then they tiptoe across the quiet side of the diamond. Some Freight cars worthy of mention. The new KNOX scrap gons for Philips Metals. The regular hoppers with the gravel residue. The sound of the leaking air hose between the tank cars to help build your confidence. AGR boxcar in yellow which still has Green Bay and Western lettering. The 3 blue TRLX Texas Railcar Leasing blue Vulcan flats with wooden slats on the floor and side chains. Scenes like those are a winner every time!

Looking at Google satellite and street-view images, it appears that the tracks were just short, stub-end sidings for the 2 buildings. The larger one (B&G Distributing, 835 Spring Street) has several freight car loading doors (now blocked in) down the side.

Hi Scott, that was great to see. I liked the aerial views of the Freight cars. I noted a couple of brown-oxide Boxcars with small black hatches or vents in their roofs. Do you know what these are for, please? Thanks, regards.
@paulbergen9114 Жыл бұрын
I think you're referring to the 2WFRX Wells Fargo Leasing box cars. I'm don't know who the previous owner of those cars was or when it was modified but those 8 vents traditionally indicate the cars hauled baled pulp and this helps to vent it however it is missing the vents on the side walls. CP & CN have them most
@gp3829 Жыл бұрын
@@paulbergen9114 Hi, thanks for the info. I half-guessed they might be Vents and now you mention the baled pulp - that would confirm it.

Scott - the diamond supported 2 crossed sidings for Interstate Door and Sash Company "back in the day". I shot a video from the grade crossing on the opposite side of the train.

Very interesting, thank you. I find a lot of the smaller industries get lost to history and memory once they’re gone. Googling usually is no help because they’re always trying to lead you to businesses that are open and paying advertising dollars. Was the video you shot recent or much older?

1:00 I just had to laugh when I noticed that the sign for the Flashy Mobile Signs company is... black and white paint on a wall. Presumably, the Classic Static Signs company has some kind of gaudy, animated neon. 🤣

Wait just a minute, is this video telling me that in Ohio the trees are blossoming and leaves are sprouting.? We've got snow and frigid temps coming tonight and tomorrow. Not to mention that yesterday, I went flying ass over heels on the ice. I gotta move south.

Thank you, perhaps if I had engaged my brain I might have figured it out on my own. Maybe. I have been watching too many Leland Sklar videos as he tours Texas, It's green almost everywhere down there. That already had me thinking that I am much too far north.

The tracks in the first part of the video look to be in rough shape. With the recent derailment in Ohio you’d think railroads would maintain their track to be in better shape.
@Poker2662 Жыл бұрын
The tracks in question are more than acceptable for the 10mph speed restriction through downtown Canton, and the zoomed-in angle makes exaggerates any mildly bad spot. Nothing to see here.
@Pitchblackplays Жыл бұрын
The tracks always look horrendous when you zoom in. But I promise you, new ties were just installed there and the rail was just regauged along with tamping and regulating. All WLE tracks in service are constantly and meticulously inspected because WLE doesn't play around with safety.
@davezobeljr9025 Жыл бұрын
How can the rails be that bad like that. How does the NTB allow it. especially now with all the derailments
@ScottTaipaleRail Жыл бұрын
I don’t see anything in my footage that indicates bad track for the speed they’re running
