This is fascinating, but what is the goal? What does the finished wheel look like? I have a 1987 190E, so I am subscribed and very interested.

The goal is making a 8.5-10.5x18" 3pieces custom wheel set from the factory 15" gullideckel rims. You can see the result of an another similar project on the cover photo of the 1st part.
