Broyles' statement "I hope we can have a playoff in division 1." Only took about 45 years.

Alright now I remember this like it was yesterday and my parents are FAMU grads and my mom was the President of the FAMU Alumni Chapter President in Atlanta and she and my dad hosted a watch party at the house for this game and baked orange and green cupcakes and and to celebrate the successful season and victory over UMass had the entire team come to Atlanta to celebrate and they had me bring the players into the building to celebrate...What a night!☺Groovy historical moments..

Crazy that Chester's son would go on to become a solid FAMU QB in 2005. Those player intros are sweet, they need to bring that back.

I can't thank you enough, Alex Hines, for posting this. Never thought I'd ever see this. I watched every minute. I would love to see any HBCU games from the 1970s. The wind was terrible, but neither team seemed to have a passing game. The FAMU band put on a jammin' halftime show. Vince Coleman, the FAMU kicker and future Major League Baseball stolen base leader from Raines High School in Jacksonville, Florida, was cool to see. A great day for FAMU football and the great band!

A few months before a deadly tornado struck Wichita Falls, in the neighborhood of the stadium. Memorial Stadium was one of the first high school stadiums with artificial turf. Today it's also the home of Midwestern State University, a DII program.

As part of the ABC/NCAA television contract lower division championship games had to be televised. They could be regionally televised though and it would meet the requirements of the contract.

And if we do, then the games need to be competitive and not blow outs after the 1st quarter. And that would give the SWAC some respect if they can win a game or two.

I noticed that whether it's 1978 or 2021, the only time they show the marching band at halftime on TV is if it's a black college band.
