Very many thanks for this. In importing a formerly British-registered W204 permanently into The Netherlands, I had to install headlight units that point towards the right instead of left (that's a real thing) to pass the inspection. Whilst the job took a couple of frustrating hours to do (!) I found some decent aftermarket headlamp units and saved myself over €1000 compared with the dealership's quote. But without your video, I doubt I could have figured it out within a month of Sundays.

Hi Ignacio ... thanks for your kind comments. What you have to do is buy the appropriate cable. I made this video last year and explain how you connect the media cable. You have to pull the COMAND out and plug it into the back: Mercedes W204 C Class How to Remove COMAND Command APS Navigation Head Unit This should give you the information you need. Take the COMAND out first to make sure the empty slot is there. It's easy to pull out as you'll see if you watch the video. I don't have the media cables so I'm not sure what cable is required but I know it plugs into a slot on the back of the COMAND. You do have the NTG4 COMAND with navigation and fold up screen?

+MissRomalyn Hi ... this video is how to remove the headlights so yes you can do that and no it won't void you're warranty if the work is done properly. If you're referring to installing the angel eyes into your headlights then yes it can be done to the 2014 headlights. Providing the lens is resealed properly then I can't see how warranty would be an issue. Although the dealers will always try to bluff and say everything will void the warranty. I do what I want to do as it's my car. I'm not bothered and never have been by the warranty. I see it as something for major failures and fitting extra lights into the headlights is unlikely to have any effect. My cars warranty period has expired so it's no problem anyway. Regards, Scott

Thanks for such an informative post. I have been searching long and hard for such a video. Your light connector has the same color arrangement as my vehicle (w204 c200) and I need to tap into the park light wire to connect to a lighted star. Can you indicate which color wire I should tap into?

@@philipdeg1594 You could connect your star to the fuel pump fuse in the engine bay fuse box. That's easy to get to. It means the star will light when the ignition is on. It will act as a courtesy light to as it will stay on for about 20 seconds after you switch the car off.

The lens on my headlight was cracked and UK weather meant that the moisture has clearly gotten in. My dipped beam has gone out and right indicator and intelligent light system, does this mean I need a whole new headlight??

You may need a new ballast which is bolted to the underside of the headlight.

Hi Scott Thanks for the those informative video's...i have a question, i have similar lights as yours my right d1s bulb stop working and i discovered that it was fine as i replace it with the left working bulb and still it didn't work, can it be the ballast is faulty or their is other thing to look for.

Mohamed Kamal Hi Mohamed ... do you have a fault message on your dash? If you've made that test you've deduced the globe is ok however I'd swap the globes over as a second test to see if the RHS works and the LHS stops. I can't think of anything else other than the ballast. They're easy to replace once the headlight is out and you can get them on eBay easily. The ballast and headlight control unit are one item so unfortunately I don't think you can use a cheap generic ballast only. It's something I'm investigating. Kind regards, Scott

Yes i do have 2 fault messages,"active light inoperative" and "right dipped beam" and yes i did replace the bulb from the right headlight which was not working when i put it in the left headlight it works... thanks a lot for your reply i will change the ballast.

Hi Scott, thanks for the video, it's been really helpful. I have recently changed my driver side with a new headlight assembly w/ ballast since that old one had a crack and the ballast was dead after a car wash. After changing, the color is not matching the passenger side one as the new one is really bright(bright blue) and the old passenger one is kind of week (weak white color). I am just wondering if you know why it's happening like this? Do I need to change a new Xenon light bulb? Because I have a mechanic here told me it's happening as the "ball glass in front of the bulb“(not sure the term of this, lens maybe?) is getting old and that couldn't be fixed/cleared/replaced.....Is that true? It cost me $2000 to replace the driver one already :( and I really appreciate any suggestions or ideas if you may have. Thanks in advance!

+Wentao Xu I would think the new bulb is a different colour temperature to the other side. The mechanic would be referring to the projector lens. It sounds like he's giving opinion off the top of his head ... in other words he doesn't know and is trying to sell you a headlight as you have to buy the whole thing. I ignore industry staff opinions as they have a vested interest. You can buy a pair of D1S 35W HID bulbs at 6000k colour temperature off eBay very cheaply. 6000K gives you a crisp white light with a hint of blue. search eBay for "D1S bulb" www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-35W-D1S-D1C-D2C-D2R-D3S-D4S-Car-HID-Super-White-Xenon-Head-Light-Bulbs-Globes-/301545672204?var=&hash=item463585ce0c $2000 for the driver side is outrageous. You can buy non original replacement headlights for a fraction of the cost.

So "D1S 35W with 6000k", is this the exactly one for all W204? Mine is 2010 C350 4Matic, btw. And.... do I need to worry about the projector lens by any chance? I just saw another video you have and took the plastic cover off and clear the lens, is that necessary?

+Wentao Xu Your projector lens will be fine I'm sure. Check your owners manual as the globe sizes are listed, however if you have HID's they should be the D1S size. I don't know of any other sizes used in those projectors. I did a video of how to install Angel Eyes into the existing headlight which involves taking the cover off. My projector lens are 7 years old as the car was built in August 2008. The projectors look like they just came off the assembly line. Buy a pair of those D1S bulbs, change both sides and keep the others as spares. Or do the LH side first and see if it's the same as new one.

Pro. Is very subjective. It's going to take them the best part of a day because it's detailed work. If they haven't done it before they have to go through the learning curve. You'd want to be careful who you choose.

I'm not sure what your question refers to. Once you replace the broken ballast the lights should work again.
