W204 MERCEDES C350 Camshaft Adjuster Magnets & Cam Position Sensors! OIL LEAKING ISSUE FOR M272!!!

We're one step closer to getting started with the performance aspect of my w204 C350 by making sure the Cam Magnets Solenoids and Camshaft Position sensors are replaced after many years on the road! They are prone to oil seepage overtime which causes all sorts of problems! Preventative Maintenance is key!

Online sources are very helpful! The m272 engine is spread across multiple models so a lot of these problems are the most known ones. For the most part these are the most common issues the m272 engine usually has! The most significant being the intake manifold which is also made out of plastic.

I have the same car 2012 , it have an issues on cold start some times it dies, unless you give some gas it eityer cam magnet or cam shaft adjuster

2012 is a weird transitioning period between the m276 or m272 motor, which one do you have?

Always replace all at once since it will cost you more in the long run if you replace one at a time, and for the bolt that’s so unfortunate! I would look for it at fcp euro!

Do you have to change the CAM position sensor if you have worked changed the camshaft before or it is just a maintenance thing?

You don’t necessarily have to change the cam position sensors however in my opinion, you might as well change them if you’re doing the work in the same areas! Besides the gaskets usually tend to go bad when they get older!

Wonder if they could possibly cause misfires. As I've just noticed that I have an oil leak right there on bank 2. If you know, please let me know. I booked it in for a service in a couple days and they'll have a look at where the misfire comes from as well.

Well it’s best to start with coilpacks and spark plugs first with the misfire. I highly suggest getting a cheap obd reader from Walmart which will cost you $25. It helps a lot when it comes to diagnosing your car!

Yes, any of these can cause misfires as well as rough running & cold start rattling. Far more likely to get misfires from the cam magnets rather than coils on M272's

total of four each. two on each side! you can get a kit from fcp euro which gives you what you need for the job!

I would try to see if there’s a good amount of oil gunk around the area, what usually happens is that seepage of oil gets into the wiring harness and messed up the harness causing codes like that.

Check if your wiring harness are clean and doesn’t have oil, it tends to gather oil overtime and destroy it, there’s lots of replacements on fcp euro

@@s7omioil migrates through the harness into the o2 sensors, and eventually into the CPU. If left unchecked it is an engine put repair involving replacement of harness. I’ve heard it can be in excess of $10k

I can’t do this by myself cuz i dont have a 6.5mm wrench to squeeze in, everything else is too bulky. Im not about to take apart oil separator and steering fluid reservoir… Looked for the wrench in every damn store and no one holds it so imma just pay a fucking mechanic to do it. I really wanted to do it by myself but whatever
