W211 Mercedes Battery Draw From Alarm Siren

Just wanted to say thank you for filming the repairs you're doing. After watching your videos, I've found that the E320 isn't as scary mechanically as I thought it was. Next year I'm going to get an E320.

Electrical is a bit more complicated, but it’s not a bog deal once you get used to it

Looks like Mercedes should make this type of horn having a separate compartment so that batteries inside can be easily changed out after 10 years before it leaks and corrode the PCB board. Use of O-ring & screws to secure the flip open cover after changing the batteries.

My Uncle's E350 had a parasitic draw for the alarm/cl module. I pulled the fuse so he could still use the car and not have a flat battery. I don't see him for a while, then he calls me and says battery flat again. Turns out he went to a "mechanic" who was obviously clever enough to realise the fuse was missing, but just not clever enough to ask "why". So he puts one in, gives the car back.... now another dead battery £200.

I had the same thing but mine was drawing +150ma. It actually went off about 3 weeks prior and wouldn't shutoff for about 5 minutes even with the car started. The parasitic draw, the 9078 Communication With Component H3(Alarm Signal Horn) and the odd behavior pointed straight at this Alarm. Someone had already removed the drain funnel on mine which makes sense as the design seems to gather debris. Thanks for the video. :)

30$ for that part? I really doubt that. I think its about 150 here at the dealer.

not worth buying parts ate the dealer for a 20 year old car, IMO

You'd be surprised how reasonable some parts are from dealers, especially Mercedes. You should always call and check with them. A genuine part might only be a few pounds more than a pattern.

Looks like you Buy a a171 sirene, it is going to die eventually, next tome get the 2038203826, this sirene solves the problem with the mh-cell.

Does the 203*** one have a different battery type or something?
