"H₃rḗḱs dei̯u̯ós-kwe" ("The King and the God") is an adaptation of a short dialogue written in Proto-Indo-European. This version is by linguist Andrew Byrd. It's also the first part of a triptych.
Proto-Indo-European is a hypothetical language considered to be the unique origin of today's Indo-European languages. Linguists have partially reconstructed this possible protolanguage on the basis of similarities between languages that have often disappeared but are real and known, and partially on the basis of well-identified transformation patterns, particularly phonological ones.
Since the Kurgan hypothesis put forward by Marija Gimbutas in 1956, the Yamna culture has been associated with late Proto-Indo-Europeans (PIE) and proposed as the strongest 'candidate' for being the home of Proto-Indo-European. The Yamnaya lived around 5000 years ago (3000 BC).
This song is based on a 5:3 polyrythm on frame drum loop, with throat singing and handpan (Handpan by Pan'H Instruments)
I humbly try to pronounce it to the best I can, with months of studying phonology and phonetic of PIE. It's far from perfect, and I had to make choices for H1, H2 et H3 sounds.
I based my sound on this version: • "The King and the God"...
It's also the first time I release a song where I sing into.

English Translation:
"The King and the God"
Once there was a king. He was childless.
The king wanted a son.
He asked his priest:
"May a son be born to me!"
The priest said to the king:
"Pray to the god Werunos."
The king approached the god Werunos
to pray now to the god.
"Hear me, father Werunos!" (Hear me)
The god Werunos came down from heaven.
"What do you want?"
"I want a son."
"Let this be so," said the bright god Werunos.
The king's lady bore a son.
"Let this be so," said the bright god Werunos.
The king's lady bore a son.
Once there was a king. He was childless.

he's not really doïng that we don't have any evidence that the proto-indo-europeans used throat singing & we only do it with pre-christian northern europeans in pop culture bc it sounds "barbaric" or "pagan" to western ears it's fine to enjoy this aesthetic just keep in mind it's really just a rule of cool & not an actual historical reconstruction

hi, i love this types of rhythms. i’m new to drumming but want to learn these specific ancient types of drumming styles and patterns . can you offer some advice as to where i can learn or see more of this particular type of drumming patterns to learn from? thanks. keep up the great vibe. it’s truly amazing!!
@Waagal
@Waagal 8 ай бұрын
Hey, It's actually polyrhythms :) This one combine 5 and 3 (and 4!) to make a 15 beat (that you can divide by 3 and 5 !) So one frame drum is in 5/8 (with hitting on the 1s and 3s) and the other one is on 4/4. The kick plays on 3/8 hitting the 1s, and handpan make a cycle (or chords progression) of 6 times the rhythm of the first frame drum (the one in 5/8). Hope it helps you in some ways ;) My advice would be to play with numbers !

@@keremkarademir6101 throatsinging isnt exclusive to Mongolian/turkish people. You can find it also in xhosa, masaï, inuit, balochistan, sardaignan culture... to name a few. To my humble opinion we could also suggest that some kinds of throatsinging was already present among prehistoric people though and did not survive until nowadays except in some part or the world.
@CassandraPantaristi
@CassandraPantaristi 28 күн бұрын
I kinda doubt they did throatsinging. If anything, PIE music was probably closer to Vedic chants and hymns, with a tribal vibe with drums, flutes, and other tribal instruments. But that's my speculation. The PIE peoples were a mixture of Neolithic and Siberians that migrated westward. So in my view, I think their music would be basically tribal chants/hymns. But regardless, I do enjoy this song. :)
