Wacca: An Overview and Why You Should Play

It's another month and so I put together another video. This time I decided to talk about a game called Wacca. Sadly, this game hasn't really seen a lot of exposure in places outside of Asia. It's about time we fixed that.

my local arcade has Wacca along with a ton of other Japanese arcade cabinets and let me tell you... I’ve been itching to go back and play a ton of those games over there. Wacca, MaiMai and especially Groove Coaster

Wacca is pretty terrible and the japanese know it. I've been to more than 20 arcades in Japan and all of them are lined with Chunithm machines with 1 or 2 Wacca machines. Wacca's replayability is pretty terrible because all of the hardest songs are way too easy compared to any other game. Go to a SEGA arcade in Akihabara and you'll see a clipboard for a queue for the 15 Chunithm machines while the 1 or 2 Wacca machines are not used. FNWeeaboo is unironically a weeaboo (misinformed and misinforming non-jp person) for appraising Wacca as a good game. Don't get me wrong, I hope the Wacca devs learn and give Wacca better maps, but if you have any skill in rhythm games, you'll play it once or twice before moving to a chunithm machine.

Wacca is crazy fun to play. One thing to note is that a lot of top players wear gloves while playing, I can see why, for whatever reason, this game does hurt the hell out of my fingers while playing it.

if any of yall are also in vegas i HIGHLY recommend going to an arcade called Game Nest, they have a wacca cabinet there that is now running on a custom server that restores the games online capability and use of aime cards

I played this for the first time in late September - early October at the Round 1 in Wichita, Kansas. I immediately fell in love with this game. I just need to get my Amusement IC card and some time to go back for more WACCA!

It has been ported to VR, you just need to find a dump of the game online, which is really hard, and I've been struggling to find one for quite a bit.

This video is how I found out about Wacca as someone who isn't a hardcore rhythm gamer and I wanted to play it. One day I went into the Round 1 in my city on a whim and was delighted to find it. It became my favorite rhythm game even though I'm not exactly an expert on that subject. Saddened to hear it's shuttering. Wacca, so long.

Sad update: the online service will end at the end of August Rip, Wacca online service it was fun while it last. Despide it's popularity this game was release at the worst time. God damm man I really want to try this game too but I guess we can only play it offline now :(

Even though Wacca is a little too easy for me (Songs aren't really that difficult until around 12+/13) I'm a huge Tano*C fan and that's why I keep coming back. I remember being in the middle of a Touhou collab right before lockdown and missed the hololive ones that came shortly after it. The Barcade that I work at is getting this this weekend. Been looking forward to playing this after we got Jubeat and got most of our customers addicted to it. We live in a state where we didn’t really have a lot of huge arcades that would have games like Jubeat or Poppin’ music, but the owner took a chance on them and people loved it. With Wacca, I think we’re going to get even more people into rhythm games now! I’m going out to buy my gloves now, got to be prepared for when it gets here!

man i love my round 1, bought an E Amusement card recently and i'm gonna start hitting the arcade like crazy. I played Wacca, nearly full combo'd night of nights on my 3rd try, and now i'm obsessed. definitely a game i needed, a nice easier arcade game thats not insanely hard. easily my favorite arcade game. (hololive songs to, absolute W) tip: wear gloves, this game hurts like a mf without any kind of finger or hand cover. really upset to hear about this game getting shut down, I've realized there's so much more to this game too late. easily one of my favorite games just in general, this is the most fun I've had with anything in genuine years. the first song they added for the last event had my eyes water a little. I really hope for a future comeback of this game, we'll miss WACCA forever 💚💛💜

The nearest Round 1 is 4 hours away for me and I drove there with my best friend on his birthday just to play this game. It's crazy fun and I wish it wasn't literally illegal to own one of these machines in your home.

I don't think it is illegal. There are private distributors, the only problem is that you have to hook it up to a private network.

Man, youtube dropped this in my lap with the offline mode looming on the horizon. Glad I managed to put in some good time on the game before it got canned, and I wish it had gotten a bit more popular. Shame round one isn't super common in the midwest, so I've only picked up time while I'm on trips. It's the first rhythm game that really caught me since guitar hero, and I'm gonna miss the full tracklist at the end of the month. Shame I'm stuck at the hard to expert barrier :(

So now what? The game has now no more updates and apparently can't use the amusement pass to save the progress, I live in Atlanta and lucky for us there's 2 round 1 near us lol, went there mainly for sound voltex because my friend got me in to it with the clone version in pc and finally had a chance to play in the real deal As I was walking I noticed the wacca machine and told my friend about it, and that's what he told me, they stopped the updates in 2022
