Are you actually getting the breakout force listed on the spec sheet? We put the Wacker ET65 to the test to see how adding the pin grabber coupler to this machine impacts the breakout force.

I love my Yanmar pin grabber. The ability to swap buckets without getting of the machine and use the bucket backwards for outweigh the loss of breakout power.

Unfortunately you missed a opportunity to be transparent about this. Why didn't you do the same test with the kxo57 and compare the results with the glossy spec sheet? I'm a kubota fan! According to CAT the numbers the list are accurate for pin grabbers within thier mini line.

Good points. But I find most trenching and digging I am using dipper to load the bucket. Really only use bucket curl breakout for ripping up stumps.

Neil. first off, I have a lot of respect for you and your organization. Full disclosure, I own a dealership in Wisconsin. We sell Wacker, Krone and other brands. The video caught my attention by the title but then I recognized the actual machine you're testing because I bought it off auction. Small world. We should point out that it does have 1300 hours, and the question needs to be asked if it is 100% up to the pressure specs? I'll check it when I get a chance because I'm curious too. The other interesting fact is you can't buy an ET65 in the US without a hydraulic pin grabber. It's standard equipment. Here's a practical example of breakout force. I used the ET65 on my own property to dig a trench thru the woods. Put a 12" bucket on it and sliced though roots and rocks like nothing. Popped the 24" bucket back on to backfill. All from the cab. Even that 24" bucket is too small for this machine in many conditions. You really do need to do the same test on a Kubota machine. Inaccurate marketing claims grind my gears too so let's get to the bottom of this!

Funny. You're probably right that this is the machine, it went to auction from us. So if Wacker sells only the hydraulic couplers, why do a spec sheet using a configuration that is not even sold in this country?

Um, how is using a 1ft and 2ft bucket on that size machine indicative of coupler effectiveness? Hopefully it can also snap a toothpick... Now try putting on a 3foot tooth bucket and dig over the side with the heavy coupler and hog it into a truck. Let us know which handles better is quicker And has more power. And what... 1300hrs is a lot to you? Really? Boy i see a Lot of machines for sale going into the many thousands of hours and none of them are becoming limp-wristed. You know if you think you can argue with basic Geometry, you're going to come up looking foolish indeed ~

I have a kubota and went for a pin grabber, i would rather have the flexibility and tight fitting bucket over the tiny breakout loss, i have run a machtin machine with the oem kubota hitch and I did not notice any difference in performance, but I did notice a less optimal curl and reach compared to my pin grabber.

Great topic for discussion, your demonstration hits on some truths, but it’s also a little misleading. You are correct that almost all excavator manufactures, have their bucket break out, force measured with a pin on bucket, but that still will be a useful measurement of bucket breakout force. For example, if you were to take two excavators of different brands that are in the same class and have approximately the same bucket breakout force, and you were add a pin grabber coupler to each one of them, the loss of power would roughly be the same. Another point to be made is that the stick force is more important than the bucket breakout force because the majority of Excavation is done with the stick force. You only really need the bucket force if you’re prying out a rock or trying to break through hard pan. If a operator is working for a main stream, underground construction or a grading company being able to reverse the bucket, and be able to attach two multi brands of buckets is essential to productivity.
@MessicksEquip
@MessicksEquip 2 жыл бұрын
Your spot on for a larger class excavator. In our experience, in a mini-ex the bucket breakout is far more important than a larger machine. In these small machines with their limited weight you rely on the stronger bucket circuit a lot more often. Also in the smaller class machines is the fact that the pin-grabber is not the ubiquitous option that it is in a higher weight class. There is a lot more coupler variety.
@stephenlehr6020
@stephenlehr6020 2 жыл бұрын
Fortunately, if that spec sheet breakout force number is uber important to you and you still want all the convenience of the pin grabber coupler (or similar) you can always get a custom bucket or 2 made shorter, so the geometry from the end of the stick pin to the tip of the bucket teeth matches a standard bucket, when using the coupler (then it wouldn't be 8" further out to the teeth in this case). Problem solved, course you will have less capacity in the bucket, unless the rear of the bucket is setup like a high capacity bucket... Personally, I think the convenience and versatility of the Hydraulic pin grabber coupler is way more important than the ultimate bucket breakout force number..... but that is just my opinion, yours may vary (& be wrong:) but anyways, have a good one!!
@MessicksEquip

your custom bucket is a fun idea. I'd be worried it would not clean out because of its shape.

Theres is also the option to go to the wedge coupler like the kubota has wacker might not offer it but i am sure the dealer you are going through has an aftermarket option that will be priced similarly as or less then the pin grabber
@btsllc9676

So, if i am not mistaken, that style pin on coupler for the Kubota suffers loss in performance also which means the specs would also be wrong on the spec sheet. But if the couple has the same pin locations on a different manufacturer as most are on the Kubota, then the specs would be correct on the spec sheet for the other manufacturer. Correct me if I have misunderstood, thanks.

@christophershaw7648

Yeah I'm calling this test BS too. There's a claim in here that geometry changes the force and then demonstrates that. Then a claim follows that the competitor's smaller machine will out dig this one. I don't seem to see any kind of testing done to either Kubota machines mentioned to back up those claims. To properly use breakout force you have to roll the heel of the bucket against the ground or the tree you're digging up anyway, so this method essentially just tests the pulling power of the arm under a specific set of circumstances.
@crashb62
@crashb62 2 жыл бұрын

But why is there the "bucketpin-assembly" still in place? Shouldn't the quick-coupler be welded straight to the bucket? In my eyes that looks like a ordinary bucket (to be attached with pins) with some more steel added...
