***** You COULD buy a Surface Pro 3,I also hear the Galaxy Tab 4 are decent for drawing. The Surface is as expensive as you make it since you can choose what processor and how much memory it gets, but you'd spend about $700 for the base surface (don't forget it's trying to replace your laptop too), The Galaxy Tab 4 is $300. BUT NEITHER of these devices would out perform the Cintiq, but you'd at least have the screen you wanted to draw on. I don't know if you tried it, but drawing and looking a the screen becomes natural, but I too will upgrade to a Cintuq, but it isn't hard adjusting to look at the screen.

***** a cheaper way would be biking, i'll help with posture and its a good exercise, i also have some neck and back problems ( i draw on my legs, traditionally) so yeah, i also have a intuos but at this time im just practcing enough to use my tablet and use it to make some money for a cintiq.

A good thing to remember if you are choosing between a 13" and 22" or 24" model is that the pixel density ppi is much higher on the 13" since all of there are 1920x1080 pixels. So the 13" Cintiq has 166 ppi and for example the 24" has only 91 ppi. (For comparison: a MacBook Pro Retina has 226ppi). Something to think about if you prioritize a more crisp and high ppi image over bigger screen room.

You're probably right. That maybe the reason why the color on my cintiq is much more vivid than it was on my computer :/

Well, I mean, if you're only 15 I doubt you're very good at drawing yet. I'm not saying that practice won't help you improve, but I don't think that a Cintiq is the thing you wanna buy if you're an amateur artist.

I understand exactly what you're saying. And yes while I am 15, I've had around 3 and a half years of practice. Now I'm still not all that good. And yeah a cintiq still isn't really the best for someone my age, I still like the thought of owning one (:

+PetalStorm 566 Check this out www.samsung.com/global/microsite/2014galaxynote10.1/ I have the 2012 version and works GREAT for entry digital art. I recommend picking up Autodesk Sketchbook Pro for it as well (i think it's around $10?). Since then I've upgraded to a cintiq... I am terrible at drawing on a wacom tablet, too much of a disconnect for me to look up at a screen while drawing on a table.

+PetalStorm 566 Well, if u have the money goo with 13 hd. The only problem with 13hd is that its abit small. Just ask yourself what u really want, want your heart want and a wallet :D. And buy for yourself. But, i would recommend that u first alteast with the the lowest tablet of wacom or any esle. Just to get a feel, how this works in digitaly. At first i bought bambo and when i hate it soo much, i got myself a cintiq. The feeling is totaly different, u feel free now :).

Have you had experience with tablets before? I would recommend getting a Bamboo tablet first. Those tablets are more user-friendly and is more gentle on the budget (the Intuos tablets usually run $300 USD or more). However, if you really want to try out the Intuos tablets, just go for it :). (I have an Intuos Pro and I've been drawing digital art as a hobbyist for 4-5 years now).

If you're good, and you can sell your art or design work, then yes. If you're not quite there yet, start small. There was someone I heard that said in a seminar about having a studio, "Get work to get equipment, don't get equipment to get work."

I am extremely tempted to get this, I am not the greatest at digital art yet but will be working hard to improve my skills. I really want to get the 13 hd however the main thing that worries me is the screen size, length ways there is plenty of room but I usually use the a4 portrait page in photoshop and seen as the cintiq is landscape it means zoomed out the paper will only be about a third of the screen, seems far too small for drawing characters, however the next sizes up seem far too big! can you help me at all with your opinion on this? Thanks

I keep on thinking the same thing, I know you can put shortcuts under the buttons but sometimes for colouring you might need a close pallet which to me makes it look small as well. Specially with the windows open.

Ok guys listen up!!!~ I just got the Intuos Pen and Touch tablet and let me tell you .... i was stupid. Ive been drawing for the longest and if you are a traditional artist trying to go digital to keep up with the times, i fell like you should try this. Even though i haven't tried this, this seems easier because it seems that in this one you can actually see where ur pen is going. Because I was so used to looking down at my paper i guess its harder for me to control it. But i feel like this one is best since it resembles the way of drawing on paper for people who have been drawing as long as I ( more than 17 yrs). I feel like in this one you have more control with the tablet. good luck with picking.

That was something I wanted and tried to figure out, I believe "tab" works on windows pc and you can always customize it to a button on the cintiq if you don't want to use the keyboard. :) If that doesn't work try going into edit and keyboard shortcuts and you might be able to customize it.

yes and no, it isn't a feature on the monitor itself. you need to be in a program that allows you to rotate the canvas, like photoshop. then just put to fingers on the screen and twist and it will rotate the canvas

Okay, at first I was going to try to find a 21UX cintiq, but the 13HD is looking pretty good.... At work we draw on 21UX, but... I've been noticing that I don't really use up the whole screen when i'm drawing. So I think... I might end up getting one of these. Your video helped w/ size comparison. :D Thanks!

Hey I have a couple of questions. 1. Why do you need a digital tablet to be connected to a computer? 2. Do tablets come with a program, or do you have to purchase one? If so, how would you install it? 3. What is the cheapest tablet with an LCD screen, but also has really good sensitivity etc...? Thanks so much if you reply! I really need the help, and I am a beginner. I don't know much about this, so thank you!! Great video! P.s OMG YOUR ART IS AMAZING

The more I see reviews on this, the more I want to throw my money at Wacom. I have the cintiq 12 wx, and I love it, but even as a smaller cintiq it is still rather cumbersome to carry around. I still have my old Intuos3 tablet as a back up, just as something a bit more portable when I want to work on the go. Is it worth trading in an older model? (Well, selling an older model and then putting that money towards a newer one.) Also, any thoughts on the companion hybrid?

Hi, I'm a freelance manga illustrator. And after working my ass off, I finally have enough freedombucks to invest in a cintiq 13hd. And I want to your professional opinion: Do you think the size of the 13hd's screen size is sufficient enough for drawing comics/manga professionally? Thanks. :D

Well i think this is one hell of a right phrase - get work to get equipment! But i think bamboo is underestimated and overestimated at the same time, so i was inspired to write this small review. Bamboo is great for: - Beginner You need not to spend a ton of money to learn on Cintiq, because as author said, you need to read, read and learn more than practice and before that you ain`t going to draw anything worth looking at. Without knowledge of the muscles, light, colors and other important, crucial things Cintiq is just a luxury TOY and purchasing it equals bad micromanagement of your parent`s or your own money (and sheer amount of regret afterwards). Hovewer at the beginner stage you can`t even draw a circle or ideal, curved like resembling a biceps or anything else). - "Beaten Beginner" Beaten by harsh reality of art coupled with self realization and "feeling" of how hard art can be (Oh, how do i create massive amount of details in such short time? What about unholy speed of artist`s hand, he draws like a god! and so on...) and how much effort should be applied to get decent result. This kind of people are also recommended to pick bamboo, because if they overcome their FEAR (literal fear of how much stuff you need to learn and how it is possible to even learn it) and start practicing, they will create at least a hundred of worthless paintings(this can`t even be called painting), draw thousands of lines again and again to solve hand shaking and get their hand to "listen" and "perform" what they want. This effort can be dragged for months (giving the fact person practicing this daily) and it is bad for a tablet (wear and tear, and possible problems may appear) and if something will break, you will have to either repair or replace entire tablet at your earliest stage of learning( it is better to "lose" 90$ than 3000$). That is, in a nutshell, why you don`t buy cintiq for a beginners. - Intermediate Okay, person got through beginning one way or another, but his art (yes, art, because it is only distantly resembles the mess from lines and colors that was before and still has long way to go before turning into something worth showing and selling) has problems that can only be fixed with practice and more learning. This is why, again, you pick Bamboo (if you do not feel limited by using it already) to "brute-force" these problems and wildly experiment on your art, improving hour by hour, day by day. - Intermediate-Advanced. This is the point where it is better to enter the market as beginner artist (you have tons of competitors here and you have to find clients to fund yourself or your "hobby", congratulations) that starts to sell his own work (he has small portfolio of some sort that worth looking at and most likely worth selling). Here, Bamboo may aid your in quick sketches without taking too much of space on your desk... or it can aid you on the move (tablet/notebook + Bamboo) to make some finishing touches (without going deep) on your art. From this point most likely you will have Intuos, because it is a great tablet that is used by many professional artists (bigger workspace, more sensitivity, better drivers and so on) who draw for a living (Bamboo is too small and not so comfortable to get job done). Cintiq line is line for professionals, you need to understand what it can do for YOU in YOUR case (with your skills, requirements and work on hand) to use it. If you do not understand it (just "GOOD GOD I WANT THIS SO BADLY!" - stop, you were infected with "marketing strategy" and may be hard case of "beautiful demonstration") better sit with Intuos and practice until you start feeling that it is really tablet that limits you. In the very end, picking Cintiq can be nice for a beginner if he has (and can easily spend) the money to do so, everything measured by this green dollar bill - $. You started driving and looking for a car? Go for Mercedes C or E-class AMG (if you have the money to afford it, fuel it, repair it and replace damaged parts). You start recording your voice/videos? Go for Neumann`s TLM-103, choice of industry professionals (If you can afford equipment to it and equipment to run it, so it won`t be underpowered or limited by it in any way). You want to started to write music? Well, you can start with 1000$ neutral sounding headphones and Burson Audio Conductor (If you have the money, other equipment, performers, instruments and if you think you can compose Sam Hulick or Hans Zimmer`s masterpieces as your very first result!). VERDICT: Go for what you want, but be realistic, critical(you spend money, it is your top priority to utilize every single euro/dollar/ruble of the device`s price and you have to justify why you are taking it), and efficient/calculative about it because in most of the time since you aren`t millionaire just yet to waste cash on something you can`t even use to full capacity. Thank you for reading this and i hope it will make you see things clearly (without "awe" and "marketing diseases") and improve your skills on daily basis! :)

Most ingenious designers tool ever... Thank Wacom for this. But... the cable tree is a bad design. Its too long for me, too stiff and the three-ended part clutters the desktop next to a Macbook (the three ends have same lenght but you most certainly need a huge and ugly Macbookadapter so one of those strands gets 15cm too long for a nice fit) In my opinion, the splitter part should be in the middle of the cable. I realy hope wacom sell more cable variants in future... What i find strange: Tree cables?!? Please Wacom include the USB cable functionality into the Thunderbolt/mini-displayport line. Btw. this cable is perfectly capable for this: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbolt_(Schnittstelle) also a Batterypack-hack to a 13HD would be a nice idea. (i have multiple Macbook-cells lying around :-)

Hi I'm getting my cintiq 13hd on friday (whoo) and I currently have a intuos 5 medium. Do I have to uninstall my intuos 5 in order to use my cintiq? Or can I have both installed (I still plan on using my old tablet). I use a macbook pro btw if that makes any difference. Another question. I use clip studio paint (I used to use sai). Will the pressure sensitivity still work? This is the only drawing software I use (occasionally fire alpaca).
