I buy one for my son a couple of weeks ago because he was asking constantly to draw in my Cintiq and being hones I just tried to bait him with the Huion but I test it and being honest I got surprised for the price, for the price adds great value I believe the Huion Kanvas 13 is a great first tablet for any artist, not sure who still uses regular tablets I believe are harder to use and probably are just for specific task I really duno?????

Agree. Wacom's early entry into the market, patents and their brand recognition have meant they haven't needed to progress very quickly to achieve good profits. Ive always wondered why wacom stick with their touch dial for so many years. An analog dial is honestly so much better and Ive always wished yhey have an analog dial and also a slider. Although i have to say while this has features that are better than wacom the overall design is just based off wacom too much and i feel they couldve designed it a lot better and i dont mean interms of aesthetic. Just yhe analog dial alone if its made of aliminum and the surface is rubberised, ot slightly texturiesed or both, the knob would feel so much better. Even those 6 buttons couldve a little more different. Ive always liked the details on wacom having those different texture ao you can differentiate betwen those 3 button that are right next to each other. I think if all yhe 4 button on this design has different firmness to ita click, it wohldve been an improvement to the wacom because it would be a tactile feedback to the user that they pressed the button that they intended. And also since they havr that sceen in the middle instead of buttons if it were touchscreen it would be nice if you can havr a slider there instead so you can press the button on the sides to go into different adjusyment mode, like say brush opacity or flowrate or even size, click the one you want to adjust and then use the slider fo adjust it. But ofcourse a physical slider would also be better. Even the pen is almost identical and only some improvement. I find dependig on which tool im using i prefer a more pencil like for to the grip, i mean the hexagonal one, and i kind of like the old bamboo pen, where the 2 button on the pen has this extended surface where its flat, it helps me know the orientation of the pen. Not that it works with the tool but it feels different for different jobs. Kind of like how drawig a line with a carpenters pencil feels diffetent than the a regular even hexagonal ones, even though the flat design was intended for something else. Of course itll be better if that feature would be paired with the ability to rotate your brush as tou rotate your pen. I just thjnk theres so much room to improve yhe design to be a serious contender. By serious I mean in every other adpect other than basic usability and price. Because just from price alone there are several others that can be considered a contender based on affordability. At this point, because the design, is in many ways kind of a rip off to wacom, im wondering if that analog dial was a deliberate design decision or was it out of i dont know, maybe cost factor, or just beig different for its sake instead of actual function and user experience.

I have a feeling that Cintiq Pro is basically the CSP tablet, since CSP has such a good gesture control. But that only works on Windows machines. For anyone that don't use Windows or don't use CSP the value of Cintiq kinda just decrease for a long shot. Like it's still a great product (it's expensive), but then you don't gain as much paying for the premium. Though in terms of other tablets go, I think one benefit of Wacom is that, you got to have the largest selection of third party accessories, and they are basically the only brand that 1. Offer a large array of special pens and 2. Offer the most types of pen nibs. Few people would actually need these two traits, though, but I guess it's there for anyone looking for it.

Also, the driver switches keymaps automatically if you need to switch between applications you have it configured for (example: if you had both Clip Studio and say, Photoshop open), and keymaps are cloud-stored so you can use the same keypad with multiple PC's without needing to manually set up keymaps for each one, assuming the driver is present) (edit: he mentions in a reply below to see his community page)

Fortunately Wacom's planned obsolence is fixed with 'Connect My Tablet' app. Just download it from Applestore, follow the install procedure and all tablets from around 1998 will work again!

Hopefully it’s compatible with the latest Bigsur OS, the last update messed up my connection with the Wacom:(

Are Huion and XP-PEN not considered serious competition? If not, could someone tell me why? I've owned a Wacom since the PenPartner, which boasted 256 levels of pressure(!), and Wacom pretty much always acted like they didn't care enough and/or understand enough about coding to make a tablet that didn't often produce some crazy nonsensical glitches, and, as I'd find with the Huion and XP-PEN tablets being much smoother than Wacoms, that they felt almost... Grainy. But I just thought I somehow caused it. Apparently not! Also, I've never had with either of those tablets the amount of problems your tablets tend to produce, causing even Microsoft to issue system upgrades to try and patch some of that glitchy nonsense, often resulting in some sort of compromise or other. Do better, Wacom.

They are considered serious competition by many people. By people who draw every day though, they can feel the differences and issues more since theyre drawing signifigantly more, and for their job, and probably have different feelings.

I dunno...I've used several XP pen and huion tablets and they aren't as well built, the pens are mostly (not always) worse and the drivers just suck. I've never kept one and always gone back to a wacom until I bought the Xencelabs tablet. It's in a different league.

There's a big difference in pen quality and overall build quality imo. My Wacom is still running as new and I've had it since 2014, multiple people I know have had issues with their 2 or 3 year old Huion tablets, even when they took good care of them. Ports breaking, connection with the computer being not the best. Wacom drivers suck and I do calibrate the screen often but pen pressure and initial activation force is not the same on other tablets I've tried, no matter how much you tweak the pressure curves. Any decent Wacom competition that involves having a great pen and similar performance is great for customers in my book. None of the cheaper alternatives have really achieved that thus far unfortunately.
