Amazing variety of planes! In California only the planes of fame is doing anything to preserve history. Budget cutbacks and restrictions on flying killed airshows here

Great video.

Quick question..Does the Draken use a quick splash of fuel (almost dump and burn technique) into the jet exhaust to light the afterburner..? Look at about 5:49 from the port wing..?

Used to love Waddo. One thing that used to gall me, though, were the freeloaders who frequented the A15 in droves, not buying tickets to keep the event going.
@airshowvision3 жыл бұрын
A lot of them like me though used to spend one day in the arrivals, one day inside the showground and one day on the road, then inside again for the departures to get the widest possible angles - that day on the A15 was always the most exhilarating though - with the aircraft hammering over your head at incredible speeds. That is totally lost nowadays inside the showgrounds.

That powers the phone charger.

MrsJensterG which I assume why jamming pods (like the ones used by the EA6B prowlers and EA18G growlers) have them. Its literally powering the electronics.

Wiryan Tirtarahardja It's a retractable emergency power genererator. The Viggen has it deployed under a certain airspeed by default.
@charlesr52108 жыл бұрын
Too bad the Viggen wasn't as popular as other unmentionable planes. That delta can withstand some brutal G forces and it's STOL capability is amazing. Seems like the Gripen is suffering the same kind of fate.

You are welcome. I have always liked the look of all the Saab delta winged aircraft, the Draken, the Viggen , and the Gripen.
@arronking469910 жыл бұрын
I like all but the gripen but probably cause I'm a eurofighter fan boy :P
@channel359710 жыл бұрын
There is nothing wrong with being a Eurofighter fanboy because that is an awesome aircraft. :)

Both. The First plane at 0:00 is the 37 Viggen and 35 Draken comes on at 5:50 =)

ok, reheat or afterburner? Seems reheat is a UK and afterburner a US term. Why? I've always known the exciting end as afterburner.
@airshowvision8 жыл бұрын
+jenxx49 Because american english and proper english are not the same! I like both reheat and afterburner - I don't have a preference.
@charlesr52108 жыл бұрын
"Reheat" seems kinda warmed over. To us Americans it sounds like something you do to a burrito.
@mattcooper41878 жыл бұрын
I say afterburner and I'm English.
@Streaky1000017 жыл бұрын
Well both are correct in literal meaning since the whole idea is that you are injecting more fuel into the exhaust gas, which reheats that gas to give additional power, since the fuel burns it is a burner after the main engine, hence afterburner, however I've always believe reheat to be the more correct form.

Should have gone to Waddington instead of RIAT. They (RIAT) have totally lost the effing plot ! Next year RIAT can suck on my damp ticket..! I'm off to Waddington.

Good choice.. ;)

I wish I'd gone to Waddington, RIAT wasn't all that and expensive.
