"Wade in the Water" is a well-known African-American Spiritual. It has been arranged and performed by saxophonist Rick Hirsch. State College, PA, USA. 2012. It is scored AATB (as shown here) and SATB (if you prefer a soprano lead). The improvisatory sections in the alto and tenor have optional solo lines written for non-improvisors.
Be sure to check out my other "1-man sax quartet" vids on KZbin: "Mancini digs that mambo" and "whatever Stan wants."
The arrangement was inspired in part by the version on Johnny Griffin's Big Soul Band record, as well as by several gospel vocal groups you can check out on KZbin. And, of course, there's just a bit of general high-powered jazz-funk thrown in for good measure.
The audio and recording video and editing were done by SAS Multimedia Studio, also in State College, PA. Props to my man Scott Smith!
