There was an 'alternate ending' to this film which was much more upbeat. ' I Am Legend ' is a post-apocalyptic horror novel by Richard Matheson written in 1954 . There have been three movies made from it . 1. The Last Man on Earth (1964) starring Vincent Price . 2. 'The Omega Man ' (1971) starring Charlton Heston. And 3. I Am Legend (2007) starring Will Smith.

I'd never noticed the glass broke to form the butterfly until you mentioned it. Ive seen the alternate ending (which you should check out because the sequel coming out is based off the alternate version) the infected alpha forms the butterfly on the glass with hand smudges on the glass. I also never noticed there was very limited soundtrack to this movie until you mentioned it.

I like both but when I first seen this when it came out I did not expect will to die in the end but I think it made it different then most other zombie/whatever movies lol. But the ending line this is his legend is why I like the original better I think 😂

This is my favorite Will Smith movie. 2.The part that gave me real respect for Will Smith is the scene where he's talking to the mannequin right after having to kill his best/only friend and says, "Please say hello to me." THAT'S acting. Where did he go to get that?🤩 3. This film is mostly a remake of "The Last Man On Earth" and "The Omega Man" staring Charlton Heston. 4. The wild animals escaped from the Manhattan Zoo. 5. He was saving the bacon for Samantha. 6. There's speculation that he's the bad guy because he's the hunter now. 7. I absolutely fell in love/LUST with Alice Braga after I saw this movie. 8. The female was the leader's squeeze. 9. There's an alternate ending where he survives. I prefer this ending, where he sacrifices himself.

This movie is essentially a remake of the 1971 film called The Omega Man staring Charlton Heston. While there are some elements from this version that are better than the 1971 version, I feel that movie is slightly better. Also, the original version of this movie's ending had Will Smith survive, but it was changed to where he died like Heston did, but I feel his death was handled better than Smith's.

this movie is great right up the ending when it was decided to give this story the "hero" ending. In the book and an alternate ending it is made much clearer that the "vampires" are actually way more intelligent than shown here and Robert Neville is the "Legend" that comes at daytime to steal their people for experiments. Neville is the past to the new species that inherited the earth. Making the dark seekers into mindless rage zombies was terrible. But at least the acting in this movie is top tier.
