Reforming Modernity explores intellectual and philosophical thought of one of the most significant philosophers in the Islamic world since the colonial period. The book sheds light on the past and more recent intellectual currents in Islamic thought and put forwards a formidable critique of Western and Islamic modernities.

Critical Islamic Studies (CIS) is a research group and a consortium at the MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society in Oslo on Islamic intellectual history and ethics, particularly on Islamic environmental and economic thought, in order to expand and deepen both historical and modern research on pertinent topics.
