With pancakes all the syrup just flows off the pancake onto the plate, where with waffles they have been mechanically designed with cups to catch the syrup so it does not fall off onto the plate.

Stephanie Morgan So every time I cut the pancake I pour syrup? no no no. With waffles I pour once and thats it I have plenty of syrup with every bite. I dont have to continuously pour syrup every single time I cut the waffle to get enough syrup.

For the record, there's no law that says a waffle has to have the cups. Also, anything can be cooked in a waffle just as much as a pancake. Waffles are MUCH easier to stack, don't get soggy, don't fall apart after coating it in syrup, etc. The onlyt hing pancakes really have going for it is that you usually flip it when cooking. However, the same can be said for a waffle cause a machine is not needed to cook it. But even that argument is invalid on Link's part because a stove is a machine. Both foods can be cooked on a heated rock.

The taste and the crispy factor lets you know that it's a waffle. Plus you can buy waffle iorns that don't cup makers Everything else is pretty much the same though. It's just more of a deep skillet to prevent the waffle from being thin like a pancake. But yeah, Crunchy or Chewy is the real debate. For me, it's crunchy.

OKAY! OKAY! EVERYONE LISTEN!!!! I believe Waffles are better BECAUSE of: #1: Shape: I think waffles are better because they are square. Once you put the syrup on a waffles, i flows its way into the little cups, and stays there unlike pancakes, once you put syrup on pancakes, it either, soaks in and gets it all soggy or just runs off the edge, #2: Taste: With taste, waffles obviously win, I get it, I get it, with pancakes you can get blueberries and strawberries and what ever you want in it, but with waffles, you can get blueberry or strawberry FLAVORED waffles, but not with pancakes. #3: Texture: Pancake's texture are soft, doughy, and BLAND, Waffle's texture is crunchy, hard on the outside, soft on the inside, and FLAVORFUL! #4: Lastly but not least, TIME: In this argument, pancakes win, yes i get it, the amount of time to make 1 waffle, is the same amount of time to make 10 pancakes, BUT, is it really worth it, if your REALLY hungry, ya you could eat a bunch of pancakes, but when you make the waffle, the time you spent on making it is WORTH IT! FINAL CASE: As we all suspected, WAFFLES WON! It's obvious, WAFFLES ARE SUPERIOR!!!!!!!!!!

Waffles all day son!!!!! lol. Waffles are crispier,more flavor full,and the pockets are amazing. You can also put things in waffles as you do with pancakes. Ive made bacon waffles,blueberry waffles, and chocolate chip waffles. The crisp gives it extra flavor also. Pancakes can also burn easier than waffles if set on to high of a temp. The waffle iron is already set at a temp. and no need to adjust and it also beeps when ready to flip then when it is done. Pancakes get soggy and cold faster because it isnt as fluffy or airy as a waffle. the waffle being more airy helps keep the heat inside it. WAFFLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe link never dropped the atomic bomb of the sheer variety of pancakes: german pancake, potato pancake, crepes, blintz, mu shu pancake, uttapam, kim chee pancake, injera, etc...all cultures around the world have specialized pancakes but a waffle is just a waffle.

In the netherlands we got panecakes that are very thin but are a whole plate wide and we dont stack em we put toppings on seperate pancakes and eat it before grabing another one and we also bake them with cheese or bacon in em and sometimes both :D

Honestly i liked links argument better, but waffles are more my taste literally. The crunch, the texture, the sound, the flavor, the tangy sweetness of the maple syrup in very bite. Pancakes are too generic and soggy even of you don't drown it in syrup. The pancake is not a Friend to condensation. But if I still like pancakes cause I'm a fatass so yeah.

i've always liked waffles better, always will. yes, you can put essentially whatever you want *into* a pancake, but you can also put whatever you want *on top of* a waffle. it's virtually a taco v. burrito debate all over again: do you want things contained or do you want to "let them breathe?" personally, i always got excited as a little kid to go to this one restaurant for breakfast because they would make a waffle just for me right in front of my eyes. i don't know, for some reason that was magical to me and ever since i've loved waffles.

I like them both. It just depends on the mood I'm in. I feel that pancakes are easier to make/eat than waffles. So waffles are more of a delicacy. I'd choose waffles over pancakes if presented right now due to the sheer fact that I'd like some crispy buttery goodness. Also, for the argument about stuff you can put into pancakes...you can put different ingredients into waffles as well. Ever heard of chocolate chip waffles? :D

Both waffles and pancakes are cool. I'd say pancakes are more practical. But I'm still boggled about some people's breakfast habits. Why are you eating desserts for breakfast? A healthy breakfast is bread, eggs, hash browns, oats, vegetables. You know, fiber, vitamins, stuff like that. You want some solid energy for you to spend during the day. All that sugar will last you for 10 minutes, then *poof* the air goes out of the balloon.

I think that the pancake would make a better frisbee and in your argument you are assuming that everyone is going to have a sibling that will steal your pancakes. A thing about the concussion; My dad got in a motorcycle accident (wasn't wearing a helmet -.-'') and when he came through in the ambulance he kept asking my mother "Elisa, where are we?" .. It totally freaked her out! She thought he had lost his memory! I think it's really weird that the paramedics didn't say anything to calm her down :(

Your first impression of me says that I am biased in this conversation, however I have tried both pancakes and waffles and I have had a better experience with pancakes. There is a funny joke my friends have about some waffle houses, and typically they are not clean. Ihop and Denny's are affordable and delicious, and what are they known for: Pancakes.

Here's one point for the pancake. When you want to make waffles, you'll need a waffle maker. It's an equipment that you have to get to make said food, and its uses is quite limited, to make waffle-like foods. But for pancakes, I bet most decent households has a decent pan. And a pan is used to make various dishes, not just pancakes. It's a very common, cheaper and practical utensil.

I just turned 25 years today... And i found this reaaaaly spooky you uploaded this today after i just spoke to my grandmother. Now this is why: You see all my youngster years from like the age of 4~to like 14-15 i went to my grandparents at least once a week, usually during the weekend overnight. And guess what we ate every time? Thats right, pancakes. I used to sit next to the stove and sink making the pancake creme with my grandmother then letting her fry them on a pan. And I can for sure say that this is one of my greatest childhood memories. Every time i get sad or whatever, i remember this and All of the sudden, i feel much better. And i may even end up making pancakes myself. With that said, you know "Who" gets my vote :)

In Norway we eat Pancakes for dinner, with soup. Waffles is usually something you server with coffee, kinda like cookies. Both are also much thinner in Norway. The problem with butter getting stuck in the cups is less of a problem, though it's still there.

I would perfer pancakes... By far. There fluffy texture is just really relaxing... And makes me calm and happy in the morning. When the syrup drips off to the sides... You have more syrup on the sides to dip your pancake in :P yet when i eat a waffle... When its still crunchy, it kind of hurts the inside of my mouth.. And its not too soothing. Then the waffle gets soggy and mushy and it feels like im eating chunky barf... • and yes i know the feeling of that ive barfed before X3 • then i end up spitting out the waffle. So yeah i'd choose pancakes :P

Waffles are way better. I like Rhett's argument about how other foods were named after waffles. Here are some of my own. -Waffles are a bit more sturdier because of the crispness. Why does that matter? Amazing breakfast sandwiches. -The little cups in waffles are useful for holding the toppings, so it won't get messy. A will it waffle episode anyone? -I can eat a waffle with no toppings if I had a lack of toppings. Pancakes are nasty without toppings. -Pancakes don't go down the throat easily, and they taste gross after the first couple pancakes. By the way, if my granddad wasn't adopted my last name would be Pancake, and I still do not like pancakes.

I say Pancake because, it is easier to stack and when you spread butter on waffles they go in the cups, however pancakes they stay on there. And you can put stuff IN pancakes such as, Chocolate Chips. Waffles you can't, yes pancakes might turn soggy when you put syrup on it, but at least you can get a knife and cut it, dip it on the syrup! And pancakes are softer, waffles they are quite hard. And for the record, like what Link said, Don't choose the person how they are, but how they debate on it! So (FOR ME) Pancakes all the way! :P

You can put stuff in waffles too, you can put blueberries, chocolate chips, or bacon in them. Pretty much anything that you can put in a pancake you can put in a waffle. The waffle iron can cook the bacon in the waffle too.
