When I played Oregon Trail I would always give my character a goofy name and then kill them right away so the beginning of the trail will be filled with a bunch of funny gravestones like "Here lies Superman" or "Here lies a pile of dirt"

I remember the old days of playing math blaster, reader rabbit, pajama sam, and this downhill skiing game that I still see referenced on the internet from time to time thanks to the yeti that would come in from the side and eat you. lol I tried to get Oregon Trail 2 on my pc, but I couldn't get it to work in compatibility mode. Nothing I could do actually made it work. That one was my favorite, because even as a child I knew how cheesy the voice acting and the characters were, and it tickled me in a way. I didn't really give two shits about the resource management or important decision making. My main enjoyment was in seeing the places we ended up and, of course, the hunting mini-game, which I would still rather play over those arcade hunting games to this day.

I love a cappella music, particularly Pentatonix. I think that the older you are, the more you associate a cappella music with more of a barber shop quartet type of sound, but for younger generations it's more of a refreshing break from over-engineered pop music

About the carrying meat thing, did you know bacon was so common on the trail they sold like 5 pounds for like 2 pennies? There was a place where a mountain of bacon actually built up because people needed to lose weight to go over the mountains and were so tired of bacon they just got rid of it. Alcohol, however, could get over $150 a bottle because nobody thought to bring it along the way until they went a couple months without wine or whiskey.

I played NES at a friend's house, but the Sega Genesis was my first video game console. Pretty sure I got it on Christmas of 1991. I grew up playing on a "Windows Gaming Machine" at my after school care, we always tried to get to the computer first, there were 3 of em, but we also had a SNES and N64, this was in 2001-ish. We had three games to choose from on the PC: Oregon Trail, (Some sort of Oil Rig / Frogger game?), and Wheel of Fortune. I never beat any of the games, seeing as how we only got around 30 minutes to play the game before my parents showed up to pick me up. One time, 11/9/2001 my parents didn't show up for over 4 hours, and gee I wonder why? Well anyways, on that day I beat Oregon Trail.

One of the first games I remember playing was Stickybear Alphabet on the Apple II. It was basically just the alphabet with each letter having a fun animation. There was another game we had, which I can't remember the name, in which you played a space explorer on an uncharted planet. You had to mix various chemicals to create weapons to fight monsters.
