Are you gonna use them for every video XD. Are you planning on implementing the starter decks that came out during this time? It’s just that there are so many staples from does sets that are missing in these fuels that would make the gameplay faster. They don’t need an unboxing. Maybe just one of each for each of you and than after you open that videos set you integrate cards from them in you deck build summary. I guess cards like monster reborn and change of heart would be excluded to name a few since they might cheapen things. Or maybe not.

The CLOAKS! 😂😭 Ancient Sanctuary was a favorite set of mine that I never really got to open any of. End of Anubis was always a card that I got hype to see, but I also love everything to do with Sanctuary in the Sky as well as Warrior of Zera. First time I saw Warrior of Zera was when, I kid you not, Joey used it in an ancient flash game tutorial that was on the official Yu-Gi-Oh! website. Pretty sure it was VOICED by Yugi and Joey’s VA too. Haven’t been able to find it again, so pretty sure it’s gone forever now. I didn’t have any friends at the time, and so I used it to play it a lot 😅 I LOVE Ghost Knight of Jackal! And their big brother, Mystical Knight of Jackal. Putting things back on top of the deck and stopping the opponent from drawing a fresh card blew my MIND as a kid! Kinda surprised at the power level of the commons in this set! Considering the Rare Hunters format, I kinda suspect this might come back around a lot as the series progresses. Something that was pulled that I was semi-surprised got glossed over was King of the Swamp! I think having it in the pool opens up a LOT of possibilities for the future. PAUL WITH THE PRO-SET STORM!? Shame it didn’t pull off but it made me happy. Also thought the Lesser Fiend + Twin Headed Wolf thingy making the jankiest form of floodgate I’ve seen in years was neat! Shame about Mirror Force. I know it’s kind of the face of old Playground Formats but the presence of Solar Flare Dragons in the format I suspect is going to be something that Paul is REALLY gonna have to build around. It’s sort of a real problem! Looking forward to seeing how the format develops. Molten Destruction really put in work this time around. Honestly, all the Field Spells that say “Attribute gets +500/-400” are pretty strong for this sort of play.

Have you guys considered switching to a best of 3 format as these duels get more explosive? It might give you more opportunity to experiment with new cards too. Either way loving the series, keep up the great work!

My favorite part about this series is it perfectly mimics getting Yu-Gi-Oh cards as a kid. You made decks with what you had, no buying triples or googling what cards support your strategy. Just getting what you get and making the most from it. Sometimes you got a sick Ultra, most of the time it was just a pile commons. Been fun to see the transition between fighting to get your beat stick on the field to having to avoid TONS of battle traps and destruction effects. I hope this series keepings going until they reach modern day. I'd watch every episode of that, probably, 80+ part series. If I could make one suggestion; if the life point count will no longer be on the side of the screen under the duelist, could we get the phone facing the correct direction? Depending on the device you watch this on, it can be hard to see who has what.

True! And those were the good old days! It was Actually all just skill with some luck. (That's why I got so upset when I won a tournament at age 11 with a mostly foil Exodia/stall/beat down deck, full of Nimble Momangas, floaters, searchers, staples, swords, pot, ax, cylinder, mirror force, ect. Just for some asshat guy to say I had no strategy, just good cards... Like excuse me, b#### it wasn't easy getting all these cards that just beat you!) Just getting cards you pulled from packs, structure/starter decks, trades, and bets. Side note to last episode lol.. Go ahead and bet mirror force they said... It'll be fine they said....

Finally Wave Motion Cannon succeeded! I remember this set had so many great commons. The End of Anubis was a force to reckon with, as was Lesser Fiend against the likes of the element battle searchers like Mystic Tomato. One of my favorite cards from this set was The End of Anubis as well as Night Assailant (looping it back to the hand with 2 copies was awesome). Loving the time and effort put into cosplaying and playing it up for the camera! Alec seems to be having a lot of fun with this series.

As someone who was the scourge of the Yu-gi-oh players in my school with my burn deck being unbeaten in the playground meta of Beatdown decks back in the day, seeing Solar Flare Dragon & Wave Motion Canon in this duel brought back a lot of fun memories. I know I've seen a few requests for best of three matches which while I'd love to see, I understand that the single duels fit the "Rare hunter" gimmick better, but maybe if you wanted you could use best of three's as "season finals" to cap of each "era" of Yu-Gi-Oh? For example one between "Flaming Eternity" & "The Lost Millenium" to mark the transition between Original Yu-Gi-Oh to GX, then the transition from "GX to 5D's bringing in Synchros etc so they would be like a rare event to mark the change to a new era of duelling?

This series has been very nice to watch. Just enough flair to be very enjoyable while not being overtly dramatic. A part of me looks forward to when they continue this series to where the packs that are being opened are things like Power of the Elements and Photon Hypernova. Got a long while for that though.

I have both love and hatred for this set. It was the last one my brother and I would get together before he got too cool for Yugioh, but it also had Solar Flare Dragon, a card my friend would torment me with constantly. Good ol playground Yugioh. This series is such a great nostalgia trip keep up the great work guys!

Firstly lets hear it for our Hunters actually looking the part with cloaks! You guys look epic! Second: An excellent duel with a classic ending! I was so hopeful Paul remembered to keep Barrel Behind the Door in the deck but actually, now I can't remember if he or Alec pulled it ages ago. If not either both should think about Pikeru's Circle and other generic heal or damage stops cause it's clear Alec has a taste for the BUUUURRN power. XD Who can blame him? This and Destruction used to be the top two decks people would build around even casually because you don't have to do many combos to win and ironically it's hard to interfere within the era of Yugioh they're in. I remember Lava Golem and Solar Flare Dragon terrorizing all the way up to Synchro era I think when finally outing small burners was easy and there were more monsters with destroy 1 spell or trap on the field effects built into them and of course whole archetypes made based on gaining LP while giving an advantage of field... ...Unfortunately for Paul, he won't be getting on Duel Runner any set soon. ^_^; Still it's cool to see one dangerous deck and one business-as-usual style of deck. Really like Yugioh in old times that way! XD

This series is definitely popping off. If I had any suggestion I would say when you share your deck list for the episode use a style similar to masterduel/any online ygo emulator for easier visibility. Great video as always guys!!!

Alec at 15:46 you made the biggest miss play ever lol. You didn't attack with the Solar Flare Dragon. You summoned it during battle which makes it able to attack directly. Then you should've went to main phase 2 and got the other Solar Flare Dragon to lock him out. If you attacked then it would've been a little bit faster because paul would've lost 3000LP instead of 1000LP lol.

BTW have you ever considered playing "Poker Yu-gi-oh" with the leftover cards that you don't use in this series? 3 or more of you just assemle just 1 deck (no card limit but more than 50) and each of you draw from the same deck. Starting with 8000 LP each of course and you could even put in fusion monsters in as well just as brick cards. (Basically you draw a card that 99% of the time you can't do nothing with). And it's even funnier if you involve fake cards as well! You should give it a try!

Crazy Idea, how about we shake things up a bit and introduce something I call Shadow Powers (name can be changed) These powers are once per duel and only 1 can be chosen and can maybe help turn the tides of the duel. They're based on the millennium items. Millennium Puzzle - You/Opponent shuffles their hand into the deck and draws 4 cards Millennium Eye - Look at one random card from your opponents hand and discard it. Millennium Ring - Look at the top 5 cards of your deck and add 1 to your hand, shuffle the deck Millennium Scale - Target 1 face down card and destroy it. Millennium Key - Target 1 of your opponents monsters and take control of it, cannot be used as a tribute and control is given back at the end of your turn. Millennium Rod - Change the battle position of an opponents monster. If its face down flip it face up and negate its effects. Millennium Necklace - Target 1 monster in your graveyard and special summon it to the field ignoring summoning conditions. Please adjust to your liking, I just thought it would be cool like your master giving you a edge in battle.
