I worked a couple of years as an usher at the "old" Met in NYC. Don't know if I ever heard Klemperor, but I heard and watched plenty of Wagner. my first time watching the Gods climb to Valhalla almost knocks me, a wise guy from the Bronx, a Yankee Fan, off my feet. I used to sneak in the girl I married, and a bunch of my urgent friends, after the swell in the reserved seats all left when every first act ended. I wonder if that was done in the Coliseum back then? I am listening to this right now.

Thanks Classical Music for an outstanding recording of Wagner music. Otto klemperer, together with Furtwängles, epitomize the years of glory of the classic German school of conductors who defined the XXth century. Klemperer was specially gifted for symphonic music, ad he conducted Wagner as a symphonic composer. He was not far from the mark. Wagner operas for non savants are difficult and lengthy; this collection is a splendid introduction to the melodies that characterize the higher Wagner's art form, the operas. Quality of the recording, thanks to the remastering, is superb.

Do you realise that the more spiritually troubled an artist is the deeper they dig into their creative abilities? Wagner, Mozart, and others had personal demons to placate and exorcise, and out of the whirlwind of their personal quests came this kind of beauty. To a point, the human organism must be pressured and traumatised towards the best it can be.
@OrangeChair4 жыл бұрын
Well it certainly helps to express those things, but I don't believe it's what makes the artist so great. Vincent van Gogh, with his mental instability, I believe hindered his artisic expression, because if he didn't have it, who knows, we may of had more and better artworks made by him.

here is not IMPORTANT WAGNER AS A MAN, NEVERTHELESS . HE WAS A PRSONALITY, BAD OR GOOD. IT IS HIS MUSIC THAT MATTERS and it is magic which ambraces you from bottom to top and and goes involving you in never ening charm and beauty. i was bright up on VERDY. WHOM . I , IT I..ADORE, BUT WAGNER, I PRESSUME. HIS MUSIK. IS SOMETHING DIFFERENT FROM ANYTHING I KNOW. BY THE WAY, HE LIVED BEFORE HTLER. it had nothing to with him. you must know that in that time GERMANY, as NOWADAYS DID NOT EXIST, NEITHER DID ITALY, SO IT WAS A WISH TO UNITE THE COUNTRY AS HOMELAND FOR ALL PEOPLE LIVING THERE, THE SAME AS EUROPE UNITED AND USA, I HOPE I HELPED A LITTLE,
