It is the son of the Parsifal Opera: a collected and contemplative atmosphere. Lohengrin is in the filiation of Weber's operas, giving a large place to the great periods of singing, to the plasticity of singing, but begins to unfold the orchestral fabric, with an increase in woodwinds and the assumptions of a space in which a symphonic colour, peculiar to Wagner, will gradually develop. - The Prelude, with its almost motionless dynamics and bewitching stretching of the sound is the initial image. Rudolf Kempe conducts with an incredible transparency of the orchestra, a softness of tone and a kind of warm tenderness. Throughout this magnificent Lohengrin, Rudolf Kempe gives the orchestra impulses, caressing or dramatic, violent even and finally soothed, shaping the choirs with the same science of balance and brightness, light and dark. - The stage is moreover one of the most beautiful one could have dreamed of: Jess Thomas, a voice with silvery reflections, is a Lohengrin with a clear and radiant timbre and a fiery voice; Elisabeth Grümmer is the ideal Elsa, at once pure and intensely touching, tortured and terribly human in her fragility; the evil couple, Ortrud-Telramund, consists of Christa Ludwig and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, who, to the vocal discipline of the Lied, combine an impressive dramatic temperament, Christa Ludwig in particular, truly terrible in this dark role; and Gottlob Frick, a Wagnerian voice as one dreams of finding again, is a King before whom one bows. Noble and fiery, this Lohengrin is one of the monuments of Wagnerian recording history! - Wagner: Orchestral Works by Rudolf Kempe 🎧 Qobuz (Hi-Res) bit.ly/47kuClM Tidal (Hi-Res) bit.ly/47dmN1a 🎧 Apple Music (Lossless) apple.co/49pGBQT Deezer (Hi-Fi) bit.ly/3FLcyWo 🎧 Idagio (Hi-Fi) bit.ly/47Y6gPq Amazon Music (Hi-Fi) amzn.to/4aaYWBz 🎧 Naspter (Hi-Fi) bit.ly/3GRx3Br Spotify (mp3) spoti.fi/3MwpSlb 🎧 KZbin Music (mp4) bit.ly/3Ssl6ZD Amazon Store (mp3) amzn.to/3u23Mkc 🎧 Pandora, Anghami, Soundcloud, QQ音乐, LineMusic 日本… - Richard Wagner PLAYLIST (reference recordings): kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5CoeIGiZ8Zpmbc

Spellbinding. This is the album which introduced Wagner to me as a boy of 13. I borrowed the album from my library and remember spending the weekend listening to it in my bedroom mesmerized. It's so comforting to hear the same familiar sounds 50 yrs later. Wagner never ceases to amaze, delight and mystify us.

Once again CMRR broaden their repertoire with another historic and well deserved Century's Recording. There are many recordings of Lohengrin. Yet I return time and again to this one.The admirable Rudolf Kempe is sadly underestimated today, but in his time he was a giant without ostentation. Here, Kempe gives us a sublime interpretation of deep intensity, drawing from his soloists and the orchestra perhaps the finest performances they personally would ever give of Wagner. Thank you for sharing with us this superb moment. And making it available to a larger audience. If you're new to Wagner there is no better way to start your journey.

This Lohengrin carries the special electricity of live performance but also reflects a time where the spiritual qualities of the text and music were respected and carried no 'commercial' prospects. the recorded history of this opera reaches its pinnacle. In pure and translucent tones, these singers convey the vision of this mystical opera.

I'm a Brazilian Wagnerian since 1996 when I bought der fliegende Holländer. I got into this opera too late, first time I heard it I was not amazed to its music and plot than I've already been to tannhäuser and der Ring der Nibelungen. This is his second opera somehow related to Niederlande- because here there's Elsa from Brabant and Brabant is in North Belgium and South Niederlan.
