I would say that the historical figure Skylax was a proto-Chadian, his changing sides confirmed a Roman victory in the second Punic war, 2nd century BC. Also, they kicked Gaddafi out in some style after he annexed a third of Chad.

As an American working in ag in French Africa, but not in any country mentioned, I hear US/CIA in this guy’s takes. I would like to hear Nikolai and Kirill do a show on Wagner. For example, Pogue talked about Wagner being abided despite the rapes in the countryside. Are Wagner rapes a discernible problem? Or propaganda? I’d like to hear more about what Wagner is and what it means from a Russian perspective.

What we hear here in Brazil is that WPMC helps some countries get rid of terrorists paid to provoke caos in countries in favour of Western interests. They also provide security. The Russian goverment also helps with energy and other building resources and other things and also train people to continue to make things work. They don't work like France at all, nor USA, nor China... not in the game to colonize the place.

I think an important connection is Russia saving Syria from ISIS. And all these jihadi groups are either funded or ultimately co-opted by West.
@kate_martinez7953 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think it was quite ignorant of Mr. Pogue to claim that France wouldn't fund extremist groups even if it was in their political interests simply because their average soldiers despise those groups. The grunts aren't in charge of policy. His example to counter that argument, that the US wouldn't fund the Taliban, was a very poor one, since the US govt directly and indirectly aided AQ in Syria, Libya, and Yemen after they had been (ostensibly at least) fighting them in Afghanistan for years.

Nikolai (or was it Kirill?) perpetuates a stupid myth of "Belgians chopping hands off in Congo" so I have to yet again correct what became a third-worldist talking point. It was other congoans outside the control of white authorities that committed an unknown quantity of massacres as soon as they were given a meagre amount of authority themselves. Who does it say more about, us or them, tell me yourself. The events, which were taken under control by Belgians were later described as a geno-sigh by a black maoist of some sort in the 70s, who in a great tradition of black historiography arbitrarily put the number at 10mil. Since that day we will never forget the destruction of wakanda.

Honestly I still can't believe how slow you have to be to believe that. Have you read the russian internet after the Uzbeks started rioting in prisons lately, or heard how they constantly butt heads with Chechens fighting technically on the same side? If it was something to be voted for, Chechnya would be long glassed with full 1.5 million turned into charcoal. And these people aren't even that different, this isn't an Africa-Europe class of difference.
