He’s right doesn’t matter what kind of Asian you are. At the end of the day a lot of us respected our elders highly. Strict parents and went through lots of poverty in the US. Always wanted to make our parents proud, some of us strayed from that path but we all know deep down as we got older we regretted our mistakes. Filipino here. I moved to El Monte CA in the 90s from the Philippines at age of 10. I'm from Tondo Manila, which at the time, is most dangerous neighborhood in Manila during the 90s, so I was used to gangs, fights and violence. It wasn't anything new to me. I grew up watching people have ice-pick fights across the street..... What I wasn't prepared for was the race thing. Literally, my first day in school, I was jumped by 3 middle school mexican kids just for being Asian and wearing a red shirt. I was used to fighting so I fought back. For the next 2 weeks, I got into 3 fights with them. By the third week of being in America, I was fed up and that's when I realized I had to join a gang to protect myself or else I will get picked on and bullied everyday... so I joined a local Filipino gang... Wah Ching actually tried to recruit me, but being new to America, I was much more comfortable being in a Filipino clique. THREE WEEKS of being in America.... that's how fast my life changed from the typical kid to being a gang member... all because of race.... But I want to be clear. I have no anger or hatred towards the Mexicans. None at all. I know they only did it because of the environment we were in.... unfortunately that was just the reality during the 90s. Majority of my friends now are Mexicans.

Same here. Filipino also growing up in Long Beach late 80's to late 2000's. This one Mexican gang (all Longos) were probably the biggest racists I know against Asians! They call us Nips all the time. Longos were the reason why all Asians got the Green Light back in the 90's. They were successful to have all Mexican gangs ride with them against us Asians except a few like the Maravilla gang, Barrio Pobre 13, 18st gang, etc. I remember when they dry snitched to big daddy when Asians started putting pressure on them after bullying Asians. I also remember then saying that all Asians are out to kill Mexicans (LIES! it was just beef in Long Beach). Today, I also have mostly Mexican friends. 90's generation was truly racists!

In fact, I can relate more to Hispanic homies than most Asian cats. No regrets, I love all the brown brothas that has led me to my current. Why all this hatred in this world? Why the color division? I believe a lot of the hate comes from the pinta, some of them come out and teach their homies, primos, sobrinos, etc., their hatred, that and all the bloodshed on the streets leads to a lot of racial hate, at least that's how it is in Sur Califas... remember when Florencia and and I think Longos used to shoot and kill random Black people while yelling out racial slurs, some got indicted on some hate crimes while at it. Some Chicanos don't like paisas, and paisas don't like the pochos, all sorts of things. The hatred is taught and learned.
