Fun fact: you and your sister's DNA percentages will be different because you inherit only one X chromosome from your mother (and also due to some other fun genetic mechanisms)! But its usually pretty similar. Also there's databases were you can run the DNA sequence and find out specifically which regions of China/Asia your ancestors are from!
@xxemla4 жыл бұрын
Came here to say this!

That's what I thought of too when she mentioned the dna test in a previous video, I've heard of some siblings having very contrasting genes despite being from the same parents
@TokyoMattoKun4 жыл бұрын
Very true! Can you please recommend a website that has the data bases to run a DNA sequence to find out specific regions? :)
@hollisterrox04 жыл бұрын
@@TokyoMattoKun WeGene, MyHeritage, Gedmatch, and DNA Land! I think most are geared towards pinpointing regions of East Asian descent. I haven't used them myself so I'm not sure how specific they get but I'm sure it would be interesting to try them out!

Have you ever considered putting a nice set of curtains in front of your little laundry storage area? Not over the laundry machines, just over the open shelving. Something like those short ones that usually separate an eating area from the cooking area. They should help you feel like it's less messy bc it's really not messy, it's just that you have to look at it all the time Edit: OMG you got the fancy $300 toaster oven!!! so jealous of all the bread you'll be eating from now on, I cry. Love the video, as always!

Yes we used that powder for stomach problems too, but I will only eat it if made with brown sugar and water to make it glutinous. Lol. Also we swear by any stomach and diarrhea problems by boiling dried young daikon/radish leaves with water and then add a pinch of salt. Dried radish leaves can be bought from Korean markets.
@uhhsandy4 жыл бұрын
we call that "goot foon". idk how to type it in canto. but roughly translate to "thick flour". it's made with this white powder that is made from a root/potato family. my dad said it's like powdered lotus root almost. usually my family make it with that powder, water, and sugar and cook it until it's that gel-like consistency. i love it lol.

I recognize that powder... My parents use wolf berry/goji berry to flavor. Git foon is cassava flour but super refined. I can find it out in the herbal shops of Vancouver B.C. When it's hot, like summer time 90F+, this soupy concoction is supposed to balance things out. Like if you are "yeet hei" this is the cure. My mom would put a little honey in it for me.

The white powder is Arrowroot powder! My mom calls it "geet-fun" and makes it when we're yeet-hay. Make it tasty by adding a japanese yam, a piece of ginger, and sweeten it with honey or brown sugar sticks.

My dog experiences allergies as well! He is constantly licking and biting his feet, recently he started itching his eyes, ears, and neck area a lot more and we think it’s because of the change in season. Michi’s allergies could be due to food (if you’ve changed her food recently) or because of the environment! We took our dog to the vet recently and he got an allergy shot which stopped the itching entirely after 1-2 days! he also got a shampoo and some meds to treat the inflammation and infection in his paws, he’s doing a lot better now :)

My family eats the powder stuff too. Apparently it really helps digestion and helps with constipation. However we make ours into a dessert "sugar water" style. We add in rock sugar and as it boils we add in a beaten egg to make it like egg drop style. Maybe give that a try. I have never had it savory. But yeah it is pretty hard to find these days and my family has ran out of the stuff my Grandma brought in from I have no idea what year HAHA!

Yes, my dog for the first time has been having allergies ( bumps that turn into scabs at times) , too due to the surrounding environment. I have alternated between these >> aloe vera, skin soother from Natural dog company, and or Pet MD which is an antiseptic & antifungal spray. It's best you put it on overnight with a dog cone.

I have that powder too. It is called 藕粉 or lotus root powder. My mom used to have these big stomachache and no matter what western medicine she took, it didn't help. But after eating that, it would calm down her stomach and gradually the pain goes away. It is indeed good stuff.

My flat-coated retriever, Squishy, is also having the skin itchies! He did have fleas, which he's allergic to. We got rid of the fleas, but still took him to the vet, and they gave him an antibiotic for a skin infection (that he probably got from all the extra digging) and then a tiny prescription of prednisone to reduce the inflammation. My poor baby stopped scratching the day we started his meds and feels a lot better. Edit: Bunny is so majestic

The weird concoction thing Wah was eating is actually very common in Cantonese culture! It's basically dried and smashed up taro/taro root.
