My wife just got me one for Christmas. I'm very excited, as it's my first smart trainer. I have a power meter already (P1 pedals), so I'm really going to be using it for the road feel and app-controlled resistance. Thank you for your great in-depth information.

I have a Snap as well, its the best wheel on trainer on the market i think. one thing with these LED's though, they are on the original Snap, but they are internally housed near the board next to the flywheel. You can see them light up when you turn off the lights. So even though the improved accuracy is indeed a plus, the LEDS were always there.

Good idea on the power cable labels - so obvious in hindsight.

Which one do you like better the kickr snap 17 or the Magnus ,If you were a beginner to riding a bike for workout purposes using zwift ? I want to get the most out of the hill grade angles on zwift so I want the interactive resistance from zwift to the trainer . I want something thats built good and will last . I have narrowed my choices down to 3 . Kickr snap 17. Maqgnus and kinetic road machine smart control . Out of the 3 which would you get . I'm 59 years old and I just want to get on zwift and peddle , not do races . I want to do zwifts flexible training rides they have . I'm riding a mountain bike with knobby tires so I don't even know if thats going to work or not. I guess I can just get another rim and put a road tire on it or find a old used road bike to use . I like the pivoting points the kickr snap 17 has because I plan on getting the front angle changing climb gradient simulator that raises the front of your bike up and down and is controlled by zwift . I don't know for sure if the other 2 units have the pivoting ability or not . Any help would be great . I figured if I went with a wheel on on the back and the climb gradient simulator on the front I would be right around 1,000 dollars total . At 5:55 in this video he goes over the slope . And from what I'm getting from it even though the Magnus advertisers a higher slope max the snap puts more resistance . The magnus stopped at 200 watts snap stopped at 340 watts thats 140 watts difference and he is saying its a pretty big deal . So is the magnus really better on the slopes ? This guy in the video said no the snap is better . Will you look into what he is saying and if the snap is better on steeper grades will you change what you said about the magnus being better on the grades ? The name of the video is kickr snap vs cycleops magnus by Aaron Johnson.. Will you test the slopes in zwift and see which one does best on the slopes ?

Well, Wahoo had to come out with a V2 to fix the inconsistent power and oh my... the tons or returns of the first Kickr Snap due to the unbalanced rollers. Rollers are fixed right? Right??!! The roller on V2 seems to have a strange matte color. It is not shinny. Is it different material?
@MichaelMa4 жыл бұрын
When you gotta point out different stickers, you know they didn't change much. But it's great to know that their original product was pretty much perfect. That random blinking light from the back was pretty much useless. I would notice it blinked differently when I engaged with it on my smartphone, so they cleared that up. Also, is your back wheel at around 100-110psi? I think that's what's recommended when using the Kickr Snap.

Looking for a new trainer as two Tacx Flows have broken on me. Garbage. But I see no cadence on the kickr which sucks, What recommend similar to kickr price and quality with cadence?
@fabiansolano84874 жыл бұрын
When using is pretty noisy (not normal noise) and also you can feel a very strong vibration. What do you recommend to solve it?

I already own a Kick2 which I have in my apartment. It's great I love it. I also keep a bike with a "dumb" magnetic trainer in my office where I work because, there are times when the only chance to get a work out in is on a lunch or dinner break. Now I am coming up on a really busy time at work and I want to upgrade to Kickr snap or another kickr2. Do you think I will be happy with the snap having a year of experience with the Kickr2? I know, first world problems. But thanks...

Ray, is this a good season for trainer buying? Or should I wait a bit more for September (Eurobike, Interbike)? Do you expect major changes / new products? Btw, "Direto" is pronounced like you would "Burrito" . "Deerreto"
@Dcrainmaker7 жыл бұрын
I'd generally wait till September, but at the same time I don't think there will be many major products/changes this Eurobike. Likely just some minor incremental updates like what we've seen here.

Thanks, found this really helpful. I have a kicker snap model WF110 and sometimes I'll be riding evenly, steady cadence, power, etc. Suddenly, w/o shifting gears, it'll become nearly impossible to pedal. Any experience with this situation? Thanks

Im interested if the wahoo bolt talks to the snap and if so what that looks/works like? Trying to decide if I should try to stick to wahoo for the compatibility or how much i should value that feature from the wahoo bolt
@Dcrainmaker7 жыл бұрын
Yup, talks to it directly. Check out my Wahoo BOLT in-depth review where I show that a bit: www.dcrainmaker.com/2017/03/wahoo-elemnt-bolt-in-depth-review.html

Hi DC can you help me? Just got new snap 17 in and the roller seems imbalanced when spinning with no load. When moving the flywheel there is an obvious movement in the roller and small vibration. Is this normal? On my first ride in felt a vibration but could be the tire. Just worried I may have a bad unit. Could you spin your unit with no load and verify there is a slight variance. I just need expert opinion.

I can hear subtle knocking wind sound that gets faster as you pedal faster in the video starting from 8:03. My kickr snap started to develop the same sound. The knocking sound resonates through my wheel and tire and especially loud around those areas. It sounds almost like an idle "cammed" V8 engine. What do you think causes this? I've been experimenting with tire and roller pressure to no success.

hi could someone help me,i like the snap,but in my country tacx vortex is almost half he price 500 euro vs 300,is it worth to pay more for the snap?

Hey Ray. Wouldn't the Powertap G3 Hub be the best to use to compare power, along with the P1 and Chainrings? That would have them measuring power at similar places, no?

Hello, I have a Wahoo Kickr Snap 2017 and i'm just wondering if you have ever experienced power fluctuations. If yes how did you fix it? I have my power going from 240 to 140 with the same cadence..it's been calibrated multiple times :S

Nope, just the way the roller presses in. Totally normal for all wheel-on trainers.

Love my snap on Zwift, but trying to decide between power meter or kickr. Is a kickr 2 louder than a kickr snap? I've got a snap and tried a kickr in a shop and it sounded quite a bit louder.
@Dcrainmaker7 жыл бұрын
The KICKR2 is generally quieter than the Snap.
@ianw35927 жыл бұрын
Really? From what I heard, the SNAP is quite a bit quieter than the Kickr. The Kickr seems to have the higher pitched whine from the belt.
@simsimmer2507 жыл бұрын
DC Rainmaker the Snap is silent with a tacx trainer tyre. All you hear is the drive train. The tyres make all the difference!

Refurbished 2016 wahoo kickr for $1000? Wait for Direto? Or buy this new one because i will eventually want the climbing... thoughts?
@Dcrainmaker7 жыл бұрын
The wait for Direto will be reasonably long if you don't have an order in, and for the extra $100 for a full-size KICKR is nice. But yes, if you want climbing than honestly you only have two choices: 2017 SNAP or 2017 KICKR.
