We tackled assembling the bike as a family project. kzbin.infoUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The package is heavy, but I have 2 teen boys that were able to move it. The written instructions were great- we didn't need to watch the videos, but it was good knowing that the option was there if we needed it. After we were able to get it set up, the boys each rode 3 miles and I rode 8 and the bike stayed quiet. The display is easy to reset, and you can put it on whichever setting you are using (time, distance, calories, etc). I will say that my butt is a little sore from the seat, but that could be because I haven't rode in a while. While it is comfortable for me, it was not comfortable with the seat position for my friend (could not move the seat back far enough and he slightly looked like a kid riding a tricycle that he had outgrown). He also said that the seat hurt his manly parts. We are going to look for a different seat that will be compatible with this bike for him.I did purchase the Wahoo Cadence sensor and strapped it to the crank of one of the pedals. This will sync with my Apple Watch, iPhone and will import data in to my Health app. Wahoo does have other sensors available other than cadence. I can also keep either my phone or my iPad on the display and they both feel pretty secure.

The Atom has the benefit too that a whole family can use it, with no need for swapping lots of bikes in and out.
@marccox73715 жыл бұрын
I’ve got the Atom - the biggest selling point for me is its footprint, it is so small for a unit that does so much. It takes up far less space than a bike & trainer setup.

I'm thinking of buying one, would you recommend it?
@JASPERSDOG5 жыл бұрын
@@Drivingp I've had one since April and it's excellent. I wanted my Wife and Daughter to be able to use it so a bike based trainer was a bad option (they're much shorter than me!). It's a super solid nice piece of kit which to me felt better than the trainers or rollers I'd used in the past. The only negative initially is the much mentioned small lag on gear change, but after the first half dozen rides you totally adjust to this.
@djsaunter5 жыл бұрын
@@JASPERSDOG Was thinking of the same as you, is the stock seat comfy for everyone? I was looking at WTB female saddles that are also good for men for household trainer sharing without changing seats.
@JASPERSDOG5 жыл бұрын
@@djsaunter This hasn't been an issue so far, I race cyclocross and my wife and daughter mainly do HiiT sessions so none of us generally spend much more than an hour on it. I suspect if we were settling in for longer rides then individual saddle choices might be more of an issue
@trafficlaw295 жыл бұрын
My wife and kids want to use the trainer too. It would be massive inconvenience to set each of them up on a kickr on their own bikes each time they want to ride. With the wattbike I imagine it would be simple to adjust the seat and the bars and away they go.
@trafficlaw295 жыл бұрын
Got the wattbike Atom. A quick release adjusts the seat height, but changing stem length requires an allen key which is a tiny bit annoying. So I tend to leave it a bit short unless I'm doing a serious effort or TT practice.

Good video - one other feature to mention - portability. I have to move my kickr into different rooms eg Christmas and everyone is home, and that is much easier to do with a smart trainer than moving a smart bike

Excellent summary. For the wattbike atom I think it's better for free riding to switch to 11 gears, you are not forced to 22. Maybe I'm thinking of the next-generation model which is also quieter.

@dan1100245 жыл бұрын
You should be comparing the cost of only the kickr with the wattbike. Not including all the over priced accessories. The kickr is much better value and much more versatile. You could buy a kickr and a second bike (maybe a gravel bike or something you don't already have) for the cost of the wattbike. The second bike could stay on the kickr and take it off when you want to use it. There's no messing about when you've got a bike always setup on the trainer.

This. I just leave my steel bike on the trainer all the time. It's stiff and I don't have to worry about sprinting on the trainer with a carbon bike.

If you think Kickr is great and smooth in ride feel, then try out the Tacx Neo 2. It's SO MUCH better. And it's even quiter...! I have had 2 Kickr18 but swapped the 3'rd out with a Neo2. Haven't looked back since. Oh I love I never have to zero offset the Neo 2 - it just is accurate. Just my 2 cent...

Thomas Riemer Have both...no clearcut winner for me. Kickr: better road feel and no wheel slip on steep gradients. Neo: subtle wobble more realistic,better accuracy and no calibration.

A disadvantage of the Atom is you need a permanent space for it to occupy, as it's an extra, immovable piece of kit. You *could* fold up and store the Kickr between workouts, and return the bike to wherever you typically store it. Also, budget-wise, the Kickr definitely has the edge - the climb and headwind modules are not really essential, so a head-to-head comparison with the Atom would be £1,000 vs £1,600. You sort of said this, but I think it needs emphasising. Good, clear video otherwise, though!
@midhc50725 жыл бұрын
Prefer the Neo to both of them and the realistic road feel of Neo is something else. If you want to train on your actual set up, you can't beat a smart trainer. A smart bike is a permanent object in a room if you're limited for space, whereas your smart trainer can be folded away.

I don't understand all the technicalities of bikes yet but got a wattbike because of the information overload with the kickr and the set up. I researched both well but the kickr just doesn't make the information accessible for someone like me.

I just can't believe this review or any of the reviews I've seen of the Wahoo Kickr. I have never tried the Wattbike, so I have no experience with that, but I'm currently researching an alternative for the Wahoo Kickr V6, which I purchased roughly a month ago. I saw it getting so many positive reviews particularly from GCN, so I picked it up, but I'm so disappointed with it. People say it's quiet, but it is not. I use ear plugs to be able to use it indoors. To me, it also doesn't feel realistic. In my local gym we have the BodyBike's and to me that should be pretty far from a real biking experience, but I still think the Wahoo Kickr feels more unreal. Every pedal stroke is just a little bit unpleasant and on my last ride (after I had for umphteenth time taken the bike of the trainer and relubricated everything), I just thought f... this, I need to get a device with less maintenance, which doesn't feel like it is destroying my bike and is far less noisy - like the bodybike's in my gym. Then I can just use my road bike in the summer. Also, changing gears to often in Zwift? I don't know which geniuses designed those courses, but they go up and down every 50 meters, so I change gears every 20 seconds or so, at least once a minute on most of their routes - even the supposedly flat ones, and sticking to a set power target is completely impossible. So cancelled my Zwift subscription too. Finally, the accuracy of my Wahoo Kickr is roughly 50 watts off what I've ever been measured at before, so I don't buy the "accurate to 1%" at all
