In our second day of Wahoo fishing in the Northeast Florida Wahoo Shootout we head offshore about 60 miles to some live bottom and reefs to try to catch a tournament winner. Wahoo (A.K.A. Ono) generally like baits fast so we did a mix of high speed trolling and pulling a ballyhoo fast. This has the added advantage of covering a lot of territory. Usually finding the fish is the hardest part of the trip! Although it was slower than we would like to start with we finally found some activity around a really nice bait ball with bottom structure. When you find bottom structure that has bait fish marking on the depth recorded work the area really well before moving on. Troll through it and around it at different angles to make sure you adequately cover it. Sometimes we'll catch Wahoo and other fish a quarter mile or more away from the bait markings. If you have any questions about the heavy fishing tackle, rods, or reels that we use to catch Wahoo comment below and we'll try to help you out as best as we can. Thanks for watching!
