Loved the whole film but the moment when he acknowledged the American female runners who have won the race before him saying "They paved the way" was an absolutely emotional peak of the film. You don't hear male athletes say that every day. Fantastic.

in that scene I could see myself in 2022 when I was so close of giving up because of stomach aches and cramps. I said to my partner I was going to leave race but she moved me out of the station and put me running in front of her. She was a huge part of my way to Chamonix. It was so inspiring watching a giant like Jim with the same kind of doubts as me, and be able to push forward.

I was a smoker until last year and I don't think I have ever ran a mile in my life before. I wasn't able to. I am getting faster and going further very consistently. This documentary changed my life. Much appreciation and respect. I am addicted to running now.. gets me more high than weed ever did.

The thing I really admire about Jim is his "reality", tenacity & humility in the learning process. The reason American men hadn't won UTMB was the arrogance they bring to EVERYTHING. Jim listens, learns, thinks about his weaknesses & how to correct them. He's methodical. He takes lessons from every failure & persists. In that regard, he's a complete human. Couple that with his lack of entitlement & his desire to be the best he can be & you get this guy. Humble, thoughtful, persistent. He might not always win the race but he's winning at life.

The "I'm not sure I'm going to be able to hold them off" gets me teared up every time I see it. Dude has NOTHING be apologize for and yet, he feels like he's letting people down. Amazingly touching. Any athlete who's been in sport long enough knows exactly how he's feeling in that moment and it really does bring on a wave of emotion.
