Big thank you to Besharam for elevating Indian Regional Cuisine. All the compliments dished out were 100% on point, especially (and probably most importantly) is the final thought about being so welcoming and such gracious hosts . It needs to be repeated too that the cocktails are amazing, well balanced and prompt. My favorite ingredient is prompt. Besharam has made it to our restaurant rotation and in a city like San Francisco, with so much newness to explore that's a tough nut to crack. We have been several times, once was a collab (that's what the kids call it ) with Hilda and Jessie out of North Beach. Now I am less hip and more like hip replacement but I felt cool just knowing about this culinary event so we had to go and it was outstanding. Congratulations to the entire team.

I went to Wahpepah's Kitchen for the 1st time earlier this month. I had the pumpkin seed mole and it was amazing!! I'm not a corn tortilla person, but theirs is thicker than the standard corn tortilla and has such a pleasant mouthfeel that I would prefer to eat it over flour tortillas any day. And the fry bread! Give me a basket full and I could eat it all!! Lol Lion Dance has been on my list to hit. Too bad they're not open for lunch, but I guess dinner it will have to be

Mmmmkay check please. Can we please stop with the constant vegan bias on this show lately? People want to discover actual nourishing, balanced food with protein. Not a bunch of fried carbs and refined oils at $50-$80 a tab! 😫😫😫

Currently we've reviewed around only 12 vegan restaurants (only 7 of which are still open) out of almost 750 restaurants reviewed over the course of our 18-season run of Check, Please! Bay Area. Vegan restaurants account for less than 2% of restaurants reviewed over 19 years. Our goal is to shine a light on all different types of Bay Area cuisine for our audience and by our audience, and sometimes that includes vegan cuisine.
