Jim- Thanks for posting up all of these great videos! I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed yours (and Rivet Grrl's) adventures: Yellowstone, Alaska, Big Bear, big sweep of the Midwest, climbing Gorgonia with your son and this foothills of San Diego County (have looked East many a time- seeing those snowcapped peaks!) flights! I'm sure that you've hemmed & hawed- should I/shouldn't I post this up, but love that air-cooled Jab sound and Y tail look! Thanks much

How that area has changed since my college days when I flew various Cessnas to Ramona out of Gillespie! No more F-14's playing in the canyons, either. Enjoyable video, thanks for sharing.

Nice video...very relaxing. I've got an itch to build a Waiex B. Your video isn't help alleviate that itch! I'm curious as to what camera you used and where you mounted it? The stabilized horizon was nice.

It was a great air show. You will have to post some videos of the SubSonex flying out of Big Bear. BTW - How is your plane doing?!

How is Sonex doing these days? I know that the founder perished flying one of his craft a few years ago.
@aussiecat084 жыл бұрын
Actually John Monnett, who was the 'founder' is still alive, it was his son Jeremy Monnett( CEO at time) that died along with assembly mechanic Mike Clark in June 2015. I believe the company has been sold to an Employee group(?) with John still consulting (?)

We were at OSH the year after Jeremy had passed away. It was a very humbling moment. So sad.

Great video Jim, thanks! How did you mount the camera on the tail?
@JimHicke5 жыл бұрын
I was testing a new camera, the DJI action cam, and had it mounted on the tail with the Go Pro 3M adhesive mount. I've had these mounts for a few years now and they show no signs of trying to come off. The new camera has stabilization so the scenery stays steady.

@@JimHicke Thanks, it's a great viewpoint, and the stabilization was fantastic! Did you mount it to the aluminum or the tail tip?
@JimHicke5 жыл бұрын
@@RyanRothVideo Aluminum on the wing and fiberglass on the tail.

Hey Jim, great video!!! Were you at the Big Bear airshow last Saturday? Thought I saw your Sonex there parked, but not sure

Yes. My wife and I were on our way back from seeing our son in Cincinnati and stopped off in Big Bear for 4th of July on the way home.
