I’ve been to the original IMP many years ago. My favorite store to visit was India Imports. I’ve not yet been to the new International Market Place but have been invited to the Shorefyre. I’m a videographer who films live bands. But what drew me to your site was Jook Lum Mantis. I had the good fortune of Meeting Henry Poo Yee many years ago in San Francisco and I’ve been interested in Jook Lum ever since.

Aloha Charles! So happy that you were able to get out of your comfort zone. Whether you have 5 people following your channel or 50K, you are not a nobody!! Your channel and your personality really makes for great watching, very informative of places to eat, places to be safe when visiting, all is good! Keep up the great job and again, so happy you were invited to that event.

All the food looks ono! I am also an introvert and don't care to be in crowds. However, I learned from a supervisor once that when an opportunity comes to you, no matter how unappealing it may be, to take it. Because it will force you to either learn something new or expand your experience. You're a great dad always thinking about the future of your son. Keep up the good work!

My wife used to work for Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour in the old Market Place back in 1986. What a great time and location. I still remember our first visit to Oahu we went to the Market Place and purchased an oyster that was guaranteed to have a pearl. Ours had two. What fun. Touristy... but fun. I enjoyed it as a tourist, but I really enjoyed meeting many of the shopkeepers while my wife worked there for a year. This video was really fun for memories. I also want to say that I am very pleased that you have faced your fear, and are teaching your son it's OK to enjoy some of that world. But, in my opinion - it's totally fine to be an introvert as well - at least that's what I tell myself! Keep up the excellent work - but... Please don't let the fame go to your head. It can really change people and they lose their authenticity. You know what I mean.

My wife and I have been to the original International Market Place. It reminded us of the Jungle Cruise area in Disneyland - very tropical, with real banyan trees, and vending stalls. It had charm. We haven't been to the new one since we try to avoid the crowds in Waikiki. But, we definitely will go on our next trip to Oahu. Thanks.

OMG.... that lady in your intro!!! I LOOOOOVE it!!! That would be totally me when I finally run into you one of these days. HAHAHAHA!!!! Wow!!! It's been 5 years since IMP has been open? I work in the area and remember when it was still under construction. To my wonderful surprise, the mall owners saved the banyan tree!!!!! I remember during keiki times of mearandering through the OG IMP and the banyan tree was (and is) had the best shade covering the entire area. I also remember the high end strip club where the renamed/revamped Kuhio Food Hall currently occupies. That was a weird time for me and there was also Mad Dog's and Pyramid, as well as Seoul Korean restaurant that eventually became Yummy's (unaffiliated with the rest of the Yummy's that moved over and eventually lost their lease across the street. Good! Those people were AWFUL!!!! and would yell at everyone that didn't tip... glad they wen't out of business). I've been to both Eating House and Strip Steak in the year that they opened and I was really UNIMPRESSED with their dishes. I gave it a go a few times but yeah... Although now seeing that delicious looking butterfish (my favourite of all fish dishes... * I just wanted anyone to know whom doesn't know already... that "butterfish" is actually black cod and it is TENDER, MOIST, and FLAKY AF!!!!!! please try it if you haven't), I'm gonna have to revisit Eating House soon. @Authentically Charles, I always look forward to your uploads and PLEASE, never feel or be deterred when the going gets tough and never change! We love you for keeping it real. From one hanabatta keiki to another... 😄🤙

I laughed when you went to get another slider and came back with 2, haha. But disappointed you mentioned it was Hawaiian style because of the pineapple haha. Also disappointing that Kelly Simek didn't have a bigger cameo haha. Keep up the awesome videos!

Good for you Charles getting out of your comfort zone. It’s always great to experience other things that you never did. I think for most of the time it is really worth the effort. Also meeting others who share your interest too that’s awesome. Yes I did go to the original international marketplace which was an upgraded version of the aloha stadium swap meet.

Was at the International Market 2 weeks ago. Was disappointed that so many of the restaurants were closed. Tried to eat at the Eating House one night and there was a three hour wait. Came back another night much earlier and was able to get in. Service was very good. Food was ok.
