I actually did enjoy it as a kid 😅 Though a while back I heard a video criticizing it and I can definitely understand and agree with the points they had for it (I also remember hearing an interesting fan theory some people have that Fred is actually a mad god, which sounds interesting to me and definitely seems possible)

The voice actor of Fred, Rob Paulson, said this was the only voice role he's ever regretted. This is a man who voiced roles in the godawful *_Balto_* and *_A Land Before Time_* straight to DVD sequels, and the lead role in "A Gnome Named Gnorm". He even voiced Bubsy. BUBSY. And THIS is the one he's personally ashamed of.

The best 'Happy Go-Lucky Idiot main character' cartoons is Jimmy Two-Shoes. The difference is that the person Jimmy constantly bothers is a terrible being (basically the friggin' devil) and a jerk so he deserves it, so you never feel annoyed by Jimmy like you would if you empathize with Squidward.

I have watched this show when it first aired. But the only reason I watched Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island was because it was part of the Saturday morning lineup on Kids WB. Every Saturday, I would get up and turn the TV to WB, because that's when they'd play the latest episodes of both Poke'mon and Yu-Gi-Oh. But while waiting for those shows to air, there were several others in the mix like Jackie Chan Adventures, Mucha Lucha, Max Steel, Static Shock, and Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island. That's the only reason I watched it or know this show even existed.

i remember stumbling upon this show on teletoon (a canadian broadcast channel that was kind of canada's CN equivalent before CN was fully intergrated into canadian Networks) as a child, and i remember enjoying it quite a lot funny enough, coconut fred was my first exposure to the existance of Cloud from Final Fantasy 7 because there was an episode where coconut fred and his pals were i think reenacting a video game or inside a video game, and they all dressed up as video game characters (Fred was dressed as FF7 Cloud, Slip and Slide were mario and luigi, The cherry was dressed as Navi from legend of zelda, and i think the watermelon guy was dressed up as princess peach, i can't remember if the caveman strawberry was there or if he was dressed as anything, and i dont think i remember the lemon dude, like at all, so nothing on him) update: i looked up to confirm if fred was dressed as cloud, and not only was that true..........the buff green apple(?) guy was dressed up as Final Fantasy 7 Sephiroth (Hair and all) ....yeah i think someone on the team was definetly a HUGE FF fan
