@Valentina Savazzi I'm pretty sure getting romantically/physically involved with someone who depends on you in a doctor/patient setting is if not illegal (and I dearly hope it is) at the very least extremely morally reprehensible. In other words, that's fucked up and it wouldn't be strange if it gave you new trauma on top of your already existing depression. I hope you find actual professionals that will help you.

I had a friend say I was snatched literally yesterday and how fat she felt. I told her she's 5'1 and I'm 5'4-5 our bodies HAVE to be different but I understood her, I never outright say it but I wish I looked like her because she's beautiful and here I am thinking she's as confident as could be. Here we are comparing ourselves to each other and we look vastly different it's sad really and I hate it...

Yes I felt that. Most of my friends are tall/taller than me and I always feel inferior when we hang out and I'm the smallest (I'm 5'3 so technically not that small) and one friend of mine who has a model like figure (tall and slim with no curves) said how much she'd like to have my curvy waist line. Many times we want what we don't have

I was at the gym the other day and there was this girl with AMAZING legs and ass doing glute activation exercises so I went and asked her for advice on lower body exercises and told her she had the lower body I wish I had. @milkandcereal as long as you’re both healthy and no harmful medical issues - you’re both perfectly fine 🤗 Weight deposits differently on different body types. It’s important to be aware of the health risks of being extremely obese such as diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease, which can drastically shorten life spans, but again like I said, if you have none of those health issues, the number on the scale matters much less than your muscle tone, energy levels and health benefits. 👍

The most depressing part about all of this is the moment you realize that even if you have a low bodyfat %, work out multiple times per week and eat healthy, some of these "body goals" are simply unobtainable. During peak pandemic I pratically starved and worked my female body to 13.5% bodyfat (basically muscle competition level), and I finally felt... like I was almost there with my body, I just needed to lose a bit more on my thighs. But at the same time, I lost my period, my hair was falling out every day in chunks and my blood tests were alarming. And that's when I realized that I'd been told a lie. I did everything influencers tell you, to reach that ideal body, but in the end, I only ended up finding out that the price you pay is your health. It is physically impossible to look like that without hurting yourself in the process and it's so hard to accept that.

Yep! I have a body type where my BMI is fine. Never been considered overweight. But I look 10-15lbs overweight constantly because of my bone and fat distribution. I decided to get fit. Ate right and exercised. I lost like 15lbs. Even though I was doing it all right and exercised and felt amazing, I saw a picture of myself and I still looked chubby!!! I looked like I maybe lost 5lbs not 15! That's when I realized I'm never gonna look like someone else. I'm only ever gonna look like me. If I had lost anymore weight I was gonna start looking ill and eating way too little. So it's just not possible. I look like a rectangle and there's nothing I can do about it. All I can do is be healthy for me and be whatever my best self looks like, which isn't ever gonna be some slim thick chick.

this is why i love taking the bus. not to judge other ppl but just to see real ppl from all over my city and understand what humans actually look like. sometimes online we say "everybody has that new bag" or dress or whatever style thing. but when you actually look at people on a busy street (unless u live in LA or something) you see a mixture of styles: teens who ar tying too hard, college students who are not trying hard enough, old ppl who don't care and everyone else whose just trying t get to work/back to their families. and maybe u see the popular trend twice a week. not to just be like "touch grass" lmao but like the easiestway to understanding that social media isn't real life is by seeing the multitude of possibilities that our bodies have to offer. maybe the girls are SM are intimidating, but the old lady in a poncho, bright blue sweats and orthodic sneakers next to u on the bus isn't and she has as much of a claim to what people really look like as those social media girls we pretend are "everybody." I think maybe we just focus on the people we aspire to be like and ignore everyone else, but that worsens the problem. If you allow everyone to be worthy of paying attention to, then you realise comparison makes no sense because not everyone's goals, life position, and capcity is the same. I'm not fully there yet either but i think that realizing that the "body goals" influencers make up 0.000whatever% of the population and that even they don't look like that, and then looking at what people really do look like, not only online but also in our communities, could really help with reversing negative self-perception. and also deleting social media ofc

I'm hoping that with the internet, this generation will finally accept stretch marks and cellulite as normal. I grew taller very fast and stopped growing at 12. Even though I was thin and not curvy in the slightest, stretch marks showed up on my thighs. I remember how i trained so hard to lose weight and eat less, sometimes none at all, i even ate and threw it up because i just wanted to lose weight sooooo bad. I'm on the thicker side and i hate not having a smaller waist but i ended up over doing it and developed an ED and had to be hospitalized cause my body wouldn't allow me to feed myself and i couldn't walk due to fatigue, dehydration and lack of energy. I nearly died just to be the beauty standard, my life is worth more than some body goals.

I basically soaked up those unretouched pictures of celebrities bc I honestly couldn’t imagine even one of them could look so „normal“. Some are even in worse shape than I, and I am uncomfortable that I even have these thoughts. 😦

Thank you for this video . I was so sad when I found out that my body type is rectangular and having a 24 inch waist, that no matter how hard I worked my body type would just look...like a door and I would never be this beauty. It's still hard, and makes me sad to think I will never be hourglass but I've learned to try to accept it .

Has anyone realized the contradictions that Zoe has said in her past video including this one? I really loved watching her content but I noticed that most of her videos are about the beauty standard but she still promotes it in her vids especially in her KZbin short clips. Her clips feel condescending. She keeps making these beauty standard videos which I understand because they’re toxic but yet she keeps posting these weight loss tips. Like?? Especially her “eat anything you want and don’t get fat tips” “my secret of staying skinny”. She just promotes diet culture in a way that’s not too obvious so unless you’re actually thinking about what she’s actually saying you won’t even notice. I feel like a lot of her videos are about her only, and that she’s projecting what she feels onto her videos. Idk anyone feel the same way? Also sorry for any grammar mistakes

I hear you, but to me I am just taking this as personal growth. Those videos are a bit older. And it seems like she, alike us, was affected and influences by obsession of self image, diet culture, and all of that. I think one can criticize, have thoughts and opinions on this subject, while healing and growing from them.

Being aware of toxic beauty standards doesn’t mean you don’t also entertain them we are all participating in this in some way or another. I mean even watching this video itself is participation in appearance obsession

Not really? From my personal experience, it's totally okay. I'm struggling with ED, but still, her videos are nice to watch. She does not promote unhealthy diets, she talks about normal ways to lose and maintain weight. She also does a great job discussing Beaty trends and how close they r to reality. I don't see anything projective, don't be that sensitive. If you see promotion, then it's only in your brain and caused by your own, probably weight, problems.

I starved myself until I had no period and my hair fell out 😢 I had to lean on walls to stand. I will never do that again. EVER! It wasn’t worth it. Now I get the proper foods and lift weights. Feeling better and trying to change my mindset on how I view my body. Social media doesn’t help. At all.

I got stretch marks at 12 years old and I thought I was the only one my age with stretch marks 😢 funny thing I didn't get any stretch marks at all when I got pregnant!! Woman's body needs fat to procreate! And cellulite is a sign of a healthy body 🤷‍♀️ I wasn't over weight, or gained weight to get stretch marks, I simply went through puberty 🤷‍♀️ I hope teens reading this know that this are very common things to happen, unavoidable, and if you happen to get them, it's totally not your fault nor does it diminish your worth ❤

2:28 I personally have no celulites, but I was also so surprised by the amount of stretch marks I have on my a$$ (meanwhile I know women of bigger 🍑 who do have cellulites but minimum to, maybe even, no stretch marks at all)! It’s crazy how things change from body to body (bc I always thought stretch marks had something to do with those parts of you getting bigger)!
