wait, there's a v4 Strike?!?

I'm kidding. I totally knew. I got to try both the v4 Strike and the v1 Origin the other day, this was a 1.5 hour sesh on the Strike. and Rich has a drone. and he used it. so there is drone footage in all it's glory, we all deserved it. thank you Rich for that. which is good cause my board cam had no stabilization(!?!) so the footage was not useable. the v4 Strike is good. I had a great sesh. I hope to do something more thorough and meaningful later if I get more sessions on the v4. this was a taste. some thoughts at the end. more to come.
Origin up next week. I need time to savor all this drone footage.

I’m a fan of the v1 strike for everything but the handles so the updated handles sound great. The material on the canopy was much better than v2. Can’t beat f-one for light.

I totally agree with you, except the v3 was anti-light. so yeah, I don't have not seen the weights of any of these new wings but the Origin felt lighter than the Strike. if the Swing was the same lightness, that would be sick. but I have a feeling it's gonna be like the v4 Strike. this year I'm looking for a light wing that drifts well so we will see what I end up with.

#WHERESPHIL, we need a Phil montage... Great video and explanation. As you noticed the rear handles after pulling on them and using them for a short while they adjust and give your backhand more room.

I could test the Origin, it’s a very nice wing, short back handle on the back, no really pumping needed, pretty fast, nice upwind ability. The downside ist the downwind performance could have been better, also noticeable in the jibes. Finally i preordered the Strike 4. Nice review 🙌🏼

sup bud! I also like the Origin. I actually preferred it in jibes over the Strike but it was a weird day. I imagine I liked it better cause it felt a little lighter, I felt like I was throwing it around a lot more, and I liked that. I was saying to someone else, I walked away from 1.5 hours on both the Strike and the Origin and [referred the Origin, thought it drifted better and the Strike swung around more... but then it's hard to tell that from the footage. I'm really gonna enjoy trying these again for round 2. hopefully in the next month or so I can get down to my dealer for another sesh. I think yr gonna be stoked on the v4! I don't know what I'm gonna do yet!

Looks cold but the waves look super fun. You are so good at maintaining your stoke levels in the winter, or at least it looks that way on camera. I wish I could do that better. Cool to get some different camera angles with the drone and stuff. I get you on the pricing thing. $1179 for a 4m strike V4. $809 for a 780 front wing. It all adds up fast.

yeahh bud! I'm truly stoked, the cold sucks but I try to pick my sessions appropriately. sessions under 36F suck, but stoke and adrenaline help offset any bad vibes. this was a cold sesh, but it was the only day I could ride these in the foreseeable future so I had to hit it. and yeah, this stuff is $$ and it's finally catching up so I need to be frugal when I can. pretty sure I can make the Origin work this next season, it was lighter and I preferred that and the cheapest of the 3. thanks bud, I wish you an awesome rest of your weekend!

you are welcome! although it's not as thorough as a typical review I would usually do. I have not had any other sessions on it either so this is all I have. I agree, I do like both the v2s and v3s, but for totally different reasons. my v3 got blown out really quick, so it lost everything I loved about it in less than 15 sessions. but I remember getting that wing, I was so stoked on the flat design. but the weight of the v3 eventually got to me, and I'm really looking for something lighter. the v4 is def a cross between the two... at this point I def prefer over the v3. but I'm holding out to try a Swing before I make any decisions. at this point I'd prolly get an Origin. lots of decisions to make! thanks for the comment bud, I wish you an awesome day!

lol I was worried I was gonna wreck this one! this beach and my demos don't have the best track record. it's a really great setup for a wind direction that usually sucks and gets zero groundswell. stoked about the mast! you don't know what you are missing till you get one, then you just don't really feel compelled to go back. yr gonna continue to love it. hope all is well bud, I wish you an amazing week!!

Cool drone shots. I think that extra length on the handle simulates some of those goose neck wings you see (cant remember the brands) but looks like it forces the wing to be held with certain angle.

thanks bud! it was hard to tell during this one sesh, but it kinda felt like the handles were off a little. my back hand was always bent a little... I remember that out on the water but I really need more sessions to figure out if that was me or the conditions or the wing. the hard handles and boom could totally change the feel of everything on top of that. I'm sure I'll get at least one of these but I'm not sure which one yet.

I really hated my Strike V3 5.5 the first 5 sessions. Then it got a little bagged out (and lost that weird first session slime) and I like it a LOT more. Still, I am glad they are going back to the older design. Wanting to replace my Cabhrina 4.5 this year as I never liked the Crosswing handles and big windows. I'll be watching to see what you go with. I sure wish FOne would send you all three to review.

I was a little the oppisite, I really loved the v3 at first, but after a half dozen sessions I felt it get bagged out and started liking it less. I'm def curious about the Swing, the guy I talk to at FOne thinks that's the one I'll love, and that was after telling him I preferred the Origin over the v4 Strike. I'm not sure what I'll end up doing. I kinda have a 5m on the way that I'll be building a quiver to fit around. so it's hard to tell if I go 4 or 4.5 or what. these were both 4.5m and pretty decent power. it's been a while since I was on a new wing. it was so nice to be on something crisp. more soon, I wish you an awesome week my friend!

What about the Armstrong XPS's - I am sure you would definitely love them (cannot remember whether you have tried them yet). And if you can spend a bit more money the Ozone flux's are also amazing. Loved the drone footage!

lol I talked about them in this video but took it out cause it didn't seem fair to include that in a video about Strikes. but my two top contenders this year look to be an Origin or an XPS. I will see if I can get a demo XPS, I've never ridden them. but they currently look cheaper than the FOne stuff so that's a big factor to me this year.

this one did feel like that. I spent 1.5 hours on the Strike, then 1.5 hours on the Origin. the Strike felt like it moved around more in the drift, and I remember the Origin just made me happy in jibes and on waves but then looking at the footage it was a mix, the Origin looked to do almost the same in the footage. so I'm a little confused. the v3 drifted great when there was wind, but in lightwind it was a total pig to drift and I was running over it a lot until I forced myself to drag the wing close behind me on the surface of the water. so this is better than the v3 in a lot of ways but I did feel some swing so maybe not all ways. I hope to ride them again, maybe in the next month I'll be able to get back to the Cape.

Neither one is in my budget but I still enjoy watching the reviews looking ahead to my wing for next year! That color combo is my all time fave, same as my V3 CWC and I love it.

Greetings! When v3 came out, it was said by many that it required somewhat special pumping technique in order to get going, and also that v3 was half meter less in power size wise. Did you notice anything here in that regard?

lol... the flutter technique def worked at the beginning but my wings were blown out enough after 10 sessions last year that the flutter just didn't work anymore. power-wise... the half meter less thing was not my experience. these are much easier to pump, like a normal pump, with power that is progressive as you pull it in. so these just seem better for getting up on foil. next Friday I'll post a sesh on the Origin. I think I preferred that wing. it was easier and felt lighter.

Great stuff! This is off-topic but do you ever get pressure dings or dents on your board where your front heel strikes from jumping a ton?

sup bud! nothing is too off topic. I do not get dings or dents on this board. if they exist, they are without my knowledge under the pads. but not like a surfboard, much stronger. the nose/ rails are a little more fragile in ways, I've cracked them many times on various body parts.

Sup bud! I’m prolly riding the 180 the most. The dart is way more user friendly than you’d think, isn’t as good as pumping with the 180 but still doable at a faster cadence. And the 205 is great… I haven’t used that with the new HAs yet but I may try it the next sesh. All of them are good! If you want a more solid ride, try 205. If you want faster, go one of the other two.

Do you need to insert the handles every session? I'd attach a safety string so I don't loose them in packing. Is it still a 2 pump system. Interesting they don't show the boom and handle options and costs. A marketing strategy, hiding trade secrets, or not fully baked? Glad they circled back to the looser v2 canopy and haven't used the trendy and expensive Laminate material.

I took it out of the bag and the handles were installed. you can leave them in, although I imagine if you had the boom you'd have to take it out. it is a 2 pump system. I don't think they have hard handles or booms available yet, and I asked my FOne friend and he said he doesn't know the costs of them yet. there is a 4th handle option with hard sides but a flexy middle (I think), and that may be available now, for $45 each ($90 for the set of 2). these seem lighter than last year, it may me a little on the LE and def less weight in the diffuser. the Origin felt lighter. I may grab one of those cause after last year, I'm really wanting something light and drifty.

Great drone footage, I love my V2's friends went straight into V3's and they are not 100% happy too technical, heavier also. By the way why in this video does your board look so wide, is it the camera on the drone the 😂

yeah I liked the v3's at first, I really needed a flat wing at the time, but the weight quickly got to me and I've been craving new wings for months now. the v4's are def lighter. I think I prefer the Origin, that seems the lightest of them all but I'm not sure when I'll be able to try the Swing. same board as usual! it's not small, it's a 75L v1 FG board. I asked them for a v2 and they can only give me a discount, but I just can't even swing that so the v1 will stay for the foreseeable future until something else comes this way. thanks bud, I wish you an awesome rest of your weekend!

@@OCEANBOUND1 Thanks for your feedback and videos. I had the opportunity to test the strike V4 and Swing V4 in a strong wind day... The strike V4 is pulling you forward and is accelerating through the gust. The Swing is on the brake and is pulling much more sideway... After my Strike V3 i will stay with the strike V4 with rigid handles for more control and direct power at the low end.

I'm super curious about the new handles! we only got the stock handles which are pretty much the same as last year. pretty sure I'd prefer the hard handles but if it's another $100 I may pass. I don't mind the current handles.
