I assume the locomotive couldn't go to Hazelmere on rail. I'm sure the journey from the Pilbara to the big city was long and slow. But at least you could capture this interesting load for us. Doolan's fleet is very tidy, I like all three trucks. And of course the Centurion K200 too. Great video again, thanks for your effort Terry. :)

Thanks Zsolti, yes after knowing of Doolan's colours and how clean their trucks are, it still takes some getting used to. To know they have this Volvo, as also a Kenworth T909, unpainted just in white livery. Locomotives do get shipped, in and out of Fremantle Port as also Port Hedland. But it ends up having to be trucked to Hazelmere anyway. Door to door is easy by truck haul. If you look at a map of Australia, there's rail up along the eastern coastline of Australia to Cairns. But nah, here in Western Australia, we're too isolated with our population and long distance to have rail. Like going by train all the way to Broome via Geraldton, and Port Hedland etc. Nah never!😃

@@koorta-boodjor1522 There used to be plenty of rail in WA including a line up through Meekatharra to Port Hedland. But the truck took over.
@koorta-boodjor15223 жыл бұрын
@@iDrive123 That's where in the 1970's the 3' 6" gauge railway line was to Meekatharra. The rail head transfer of freight then transferred onto road trains for the Pilbara ieon ore mines and unland towns etc. The old narrow gauge rail line out of Port Hedland once ran to Marble Bar, back in the day. The standard gauge iron ore lines opetating in the Pilbara today, don't think they ever connected up to Meekatharra........could be wrong but!

@@koorta-boodjor1522 Yeah you could be right. It’s fun discovering parts of the old railway alignments while out there. Plenty to be found.

heres a question for anyone that knows please , the two rigs that are pulling the load are they roadranger boxs or autos ? and how does each driver know when to change gear at the same time if manuel bos? please and thankyou .
@wclearwater13 жыл бұрын
probably manual and no they dont change gear at the same time, different trucks with different gear and diff ratios mean the trucks change gear when they need to separately from each other, you dont want both trucks to change gear at the same time , hope this helps you

Generally the trucks in Australia would have two UHF radios in their cabs, as also heavy vehicle pilots..& Traffic Wardens. And yep even Highway Police vehicles and Main Roads Department truck inspectors etc, will have a CB radio tuned in on CH40. When a heavy oversize load is being assisted by a second prime mover as also can be more trucks with that load. Those truck drivers will talk to each other when needed; on a different channel via the second UHF radio. As also be listening ready to respond if called, on their main UHF radio, locked in on CH 40. Scanning on a 80 channel CB UHF radio, (or the older former 40 channel handheld or base sets), can be interesting, out in the wheatbelt land during harvest. As you get to hear all the talk from the diffefent farms, having their select channel in range coverage as you pass through the area. Manual Eaton 18 speed used, with automated manual transmission offering in the newer trucks these days. Thanks for your question. Sometimes when I'm out and about, away from home. (Perth.) I don't get a chance to reply back asap. And do thank you, to the people who respond to comments etc. 😊👍
