Establishing that there's only one culprit and then having that person die or "die" is such a classic cover up. No one to charge, no one to get answers from... too real. On another not Basen is such a genuine guy even when he gets heated up like that, I like that.

Current emperor is pretty cool he abolished slavery and eunuch production for example. There still contracts thou - so courtesan have to pay off the house for their education, lodging, cosmetics and food for example. Three princesses for example can easily buy their contracts out if they want since they earn a lot, but they do not for one reason or another.

Buying out a courtesan means to pay off whatever price the brothel puts their contract at. These women essentially sold themselves to the brothel for a lump sum, and so they are contractually obliged to work for the brothel for the duration that they contracted for. When the courtesan is bought out, the person is essentially purchasing the labor contract. Fuyou wasn't bought out, the Emperor's consorts are not for sale. The officer essentially won a whole military campaign, and when asked what he wanted as a reward for going above and beyond, he asked to be given Fuyou as his wife.

So... Maomao is fine and... Suirei as the likely culprit behind the attempt on Jinshi's life is on the loose with no easy way to find her. Jinshi is in fact not a eunuch after all... huh. And... Gyokuyou is possibly pregnant? Wow. And... now what at the brothels? Much is still going to happen, it seems. - 2:36: Let's think... obviously suggestions from my end would all be shows where I don't know if they're good or not, but which just caught my eye when seeing people talk about them or it getting mentioned on anime rankings... that I'd watch them alongside you if you chose them, but probably not on my own anytime soon. (Oh yeah, I did check it back against your MyAnimeList to see if you watched any of those already.) * The first one I think of is The Dangers in My Heart - after seeing its second season rock anime listings hard last season. And besides, a bit of romance and more Cute Girls Doing Cute Things can't hurt. * The second one I think of is Komi Can’t Communicate. Mainly on my agenda... due to also being an OLM show just like Kusuriya here (actually... a decent part of animators does overlap there lol). And since some Pokémon Anime fellows from its fandom who watched it also are all over it... I thought I'd suggest it. * The third one is... Nagatoro. Yeah, yeah, more blushy crushy action which got me interested when I had heard about it from far away back then... and its second season is animated by OLM! * A fourth one is Madoka Magica... kind of interested in seeing more... actual Mahou Shoujo action, I suppose. Since we're on Kusuriya right now... I saw that the name giving Madoka is actually also voiced by Aoi Yuuki though... it's pretty early Aoi Yuuki action and for some shows (most infamously for Pokémon fans, her Iris role in the BW series apparently though I can't hear that), that was apparently considered worse than modern Aoi Yuuki. * A fifth one is The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess... a show I know of due to its Action Director being none other than Hiroaki Takagi - storyboarder and director of some of the best Pokémon Horizons episodes (your beloved 16 with your favorite scene in that show, 25 and 44). And the plot set up sounds creative enough into a new direction I had not seen so far. * A maybe... interesting wild card would be Eureka Seven since it is the most known work of Pokémon Horizons' head writer Dai Sato for Series Composition and also is said to have various parallels to Horizons in various story beats. Perhaps... interesting if you can see them? Besides... for myself, it would also be a show I'd probably never watch myself. This is probably my weakest suggestion to be honest. - 3:28: Oh... one of your ideas is the same as mine in Madoka Magica lol - 9:52: She did make that conjecture... but also threw it away as total nonsense. - 18:12: OH? I did not realize that there. - 19:19: Yeah, certainly did not see Maomao doing a villain laugh coming. - 20:18: "This is going to take a long time." - That line tells me that we're not gonna see more of this story being uncovered here in this season. - 23:53: I figured that there were more secrets going on with Jinshi, but... not to this extent. - Basen is the youngest child of Gaoshun - that's what he said if you didn't quite catch it properly. Well... Maomao could kind of see it coming due to their similar appearances in a previous episode after all. - 24:43: YOUR REACTION when you talk about the 24 for so long and then that bombshell drops casually. - 25:47: Loulan with the multiple appearances is literally your favorite thing in having multiple casual outfits and appearances for one character in an anime. - 26:56: I am not sure if I'd take those words as confirmation of Jinshi being one of the childs to be swapped. - 29:11: Well... that's one cliffhanger on the completely different side of the world there. - 30:04: *shakes my head* So... the story with Ah-Duo's child happened 17 (maybe 18 at this point) years ago... but Jinshi is confirmed to be 19 years old in this episode. So this theory straight up does not work anymore? - 32:52: I have a feeling that we'll still find out in the future, I guess.

Did you see how big that little girl is? Emperor son/brother was born around 17 years ago when Maomao entered rear palace. Gyokuyous daughter is now big toddler. Its 1-1.5 years later. So it makes sense.
