​@@thelipsticklesbians listen, if it doesn't look or smell off, you know good and well that consumers will still use it way after its expiration date. I still have some makeup from 2019 that I still dip in to from time to time. Is it risky? Perhaps, but its my products that I've never shared with anyone else that's being put on my clean face and I'm willing to take that risk, especially powders. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Agreed, but here they at least upgraded the packaging - it’s smaller, but I prefer the packaging it has now with the color on the outside and the way it looks vs what it used to be. Now, the WORST case of shrinkflation I’ve seen in makeup is Milk - they took away their original “full sized” sticks and made what used to be their “mini” sticks to now be their full size, BUT they kept the same full sized price. That’s just ridiculous! It’s literally their old mini but for the full sized price.

Yes for example Kiko has multiple blush types and formulas. Wonder why the smart blush is so cheap? It's plain black packaging with a clear lid. It's nothing special. Same for essence. It's fully clear plastic. That alone probably won't cost them that much. But the formulas are still as amazing as I like them to be. Although the Kiko one is crazy pigmented. So it's not accessible to the majority of people as it requires elbow grease to make it work.

All my vintage rouges, ie Princess Pat, DuBerry, Revlon, Coty, Tangee, etc-they’re all like about the size of a quarter, maybe a gold dollar. And they all pretty much stay intact unless the person hit pan or they’d been REALLY jostled/dropped.

I’m a beauty addict and I rarely hit pan on anything. I buy for the experience it provides me so if it brings me joy every time I wear it, I think it’s worth it regardless of price her gram/ounce. Considering how much we spend on food etc…if a blush is similar to the price for a dinner meal which would provide me joy for maybe 1-2 hours but a blush I truly enjoy will last me so much longer, months or even years. I justify the cost of makeup when I look at it like that.

I would love a video about makeup and the period after opening date. Some makeup seems to last longer, and dare I say we all use products past the recommended usage. Is it really expired or does it just preform not as well? Powders, liquids, creams, which one is safe to use past the opening date if any? I’m sure many factors come into play, and I imagine liquids perform the least after opening date, and powders seem to last the longest.

They keep on shrinking blush and product sizing in favor of cutting costs while charging more (because they will up the Haus labs price eventually to meet the old pricing under the guise of “inflation”), due to people falling for excuses such as “nice packaging, I never hit pan on the bigger products anyway” or not doing the math. With the latter two excuses people could go and buy mid-range drugstore since they will often have the same price/per gram, size, and performance (sometimes even better!), but you see why people end up going towards “high end” because of people’s tendency to be really suckered by high end packaging. It’s interesting tho because that’s based on branding. For example kvd used to be high end and now ulta can barely get anyone to buy it. I very rarely hear non makeup users compliment makeup beyond how it looks as I get the same amount of compliments with my drugstore vs. high end. Just interesting what marketing can get people to do

Unrelated question: Do you know of any mascaras that are easy to find and that don't have any volume? I love the Clio Kill Lash mascara in "00 Slim Fixing", but it's not that easy to get lol I tried a few mascaras, and even the Loreal Telescopic is too bulky for my taste.. I just want colour and separation

im more than okay with the smaller pan size. i have one of their highlighters thats the same size as the og blush and ive had it for over a year and ive barely made a dent in it and i LOVE highlighter...haus labs makes amazing products that are more than worth the price but its so hard for me to tell people that because im such a massive lady gaga fan 😭
