We bought a half Kuni Kuni. We should have just had it all turned into breakfast sausage. It made THE BEST sausage. All the rest of the cuts were way fatty and very little meat. But I would totally buy or grow out another just for the sausage.

I remember growing up on our homestead and fresh pork was the sweetest meat ever. I loved butchering day. We would butcher 6 or more pigs at a time. The entire family came and had a part. The meat was amazing and better than steak 😊

Congrats on the Kuni pork butcher success. Lorraine, I do tenderloin the same, browned in either butter or pork fat/bacon grease in cast iron pan, then bake in oven for 35-40 minutes basting with white Riesling wine for a sauce/gravy. Yum ! I think the tenderloin is the best part of the pig except for the bacon.

Congrats. Hope urs worked out better then mine I put $376 of feed in mine in 10 months (1100 pounds of feed) + a bunch of scraps and weeds grass clipings ...was not impressed over all with the breed ... found out there considered lard pigs. It tasted good but amount of meat to time to what we put in they where not worth it ...found out theres a breed called tamsworth much better feeed to weight gain ratio they grow faster produce larger litters will graze grass also .there also a lard pig and known for having amazing bacon and flavor...i was given my kunekune if given another i would feed it for about 3 months then bbq it hole .. frist few months it put on ok wait to feed but after about 5-7 months it really didnt grow much and just got fatter
@SowtheLand3 күн бұрын
You fed it way too much feed. They are slow growing and take time. Don’t require much feed at all.
