I'm a retired chef and I couldn't agree more, this movie was pretty accurate. The over the top mishandling of food is exaggerated (mostly) but everything else is pretty spot on, especially if you worked in smaller restaurants. As a retired chef let me saying, If you've never worked in a kitchen before this movie is not very exaggerated. Sure, the gross mishandling of food is pretty off the charts but ultimately its not as bad as you think. Just remember the golden rule, never fuck with the people who make your food. I remember have to fire and call the cops on a prep cook who I caught in the walk-in fridge pissing in a pickle jar and putting in back on the shelf. Anyway, everything else, the jokes, raunchy language, drugs, and rage are pretty spot on.

I was a chef for a decade, we wouldn't add anything despicable to food but we made sure that anyone who insulted one of our front of house staff would get the "runt of the litter" when it came to food, that one steak that was a few ounces smaller than the rest, or the dry wrinkled fries that had spent too long under the heat lamp. We chefs have a love/hate relationship with those that work front of house because they occasionally fuck up an order and then take it out on you and expect you to be able to fix it within 60 seconds, but if you insult one of them you incur the wrath of the whole kitchen. Chefs are very protective of servers, don't fuck with our family. 🤣

@@epicmage82 I'm more or less like that but if I paid $30 at a steak house for a rare steak and it's beyond well done then I want a new steak. Also if something is undercooked you're pretty safe sending it back. A little can you throw this back on the grill, flat top/fryer or microwave for another 3 minutes doesn't usually annoy cooks. But yeah overcooked is reserved for expensive steak houses when they murder your steak. Even then, I'm VERY polite about it. Anywhere else I just end up eating burnt steak.

Everyone who has ever worked as a server appreciates the hell out of this movie. It's like we were finally given a voice. You cannot have a positive view of humanity after working a customer service job - seeing how ugly, rude, selfish, and disgusting everyone is. And after dealing with all that, they pay us 2.12 an hour and that's somehow legal. After taxes, my weekly paychecks used to be for 0.00. I collected about ten of them and took them to the bank and said I wanted to deposit them into my checking account. They even captured the feeling of family you have with your fellow servers, hanging out after work, usually drinking or doing drugs because it's the only way to cope with what you all just went through. We need a sequel. Edit: You might want to fix the audio. That air conditioner white noise thing is painful to listen to.
