I too have a baby squirrel in my care, the same age Roo was when you found him. I keep him in a terry cloth pouch around my neck (a strap), inside my t-shirt. He was found similarly to how Roo was. The cat found him and the dog made such a racket I had to investigate. I'm amazed at my cat, he knows I like animals alive, feeding strays etc. I now have a name Roo 2(too). I'm in love and know eventually he will be freed.

Well; I thought and am sure most people thought that David Attenborough's documentaries could never be improved on, But you have actually done that. And with a fraction of the resources he had. Brilliant in every way lass and all the best from Scotland. Please don't get too confident with the bears. You don't get a second chance.

You've now given me two things to look forward to, so thanks for that. 1. The crowdfunder. I'm sure there are quite a few of us who have been wondering how the squirrel forest project was coming along, so it will be great to finally be able to help out. 2. A video about your thoughts and feelings about rescuing Roo. I've loved the series as each one has brought back more memories of the squirrel I rescued over 40 years ago. Talking about your hoodie reminded me of the dungarees I sewed a pouch in for him to sleep in and that I kept them for well over a decade and only wore them when I needed cheering up and to remember happier times. Keep up the good work and have a wonderful year!

Absolutely beautiful vlog especially seeing the goshawk (Accipiter gentilis). Back in the 1980's I was practising falconry and a friend of mine and I each had a male goshawk. These were captive bred birds and as they both came from the same clutch we had them early enough that they became imprinted. We had many many years together. I named him “Einar” which means “lone warrior" in old Norse.

Thank you Dani, it was fun hanging out a little bit. Happy New Year ! . I have an older 200-400 Canon lense, I like it, but, yes it's Very Heavy to lug around in the woods. I have a 2x tele converter and if there's enough light it's pretty neat to shoot photos from a mile away, but it has to be on a tripod. As a side note, my little Icon photo is of a Katmai Bear with a big ole Salmon in it's mouth, I've already mentioned how I part of the online community who follow Brooks Falls. Antarctica sounds amazing !! can't wait. Good Shootin out there ! 🐻❤🐟

Oh. I so wish I could see the foxes with you! I made friends with a red one who I met at the dumpster where I live one night. I didn't like her crossing the road from the protected reservation a few miles down the road to hit up our dumpster. I only spoke with her twice, and then, sure enough, she was hit on the road. I was devastated. I had stopped throwing out meat in our dumpster because of her, taking that trash to my mothers. Silly, I know, as there was plenty of food in the dumpster from others. She was beautiful. She and a mama raccoon who poked me during my midnight porch sittings started me watching animal documentaries. I love yours so much as you share much knowledge, and they are beautiful. Can't wait for Roos' final video. He's quite the charmer! For those of us who can't afford to see the animals in other places ( I'm in Huron, OH USA), thanks for sharing your adventures❤❤❤

Roads can be so horrendous for wildlife 💔 I wish someone could create heat sensor cameras for cars that can warn drivers if an animal (or even human) is about to cross. Maybe in the future we can see such technology implemented.

I live around 53km north of Barcelona. Last year I saw a fox desperately trying to cross the road from an industrial estate to the golf course opposite. I stopped the car hazard lights on then got out and stopped traffic from the opposite direction. I'm pleased to say the fox took advantage and crossed safely. It makes you feel happy.

@DaniConnorWild I have a confession, and maybe you can help me. Every night around midnight, I sit outside on my porch and look at the moon over Lake Erie. One night, I felt 4 nudges on my back. I turned around, and this big raccoon was there. I said hello, and she started checking my coat pockets, I'm assuming looking for treats. I had none, but I keep a bowl of water for stray animals when it's so hot. So she drank water and groomed herself, then went her way. She showed up every night for 4 months, and we did the same thing, only I would talk more. One day, she showed up at 8pm instead of midnight and brought her 3 small pups. I was shocked. I ran in and got a loaf pan with water. She came up on the porch, but only 1 pup followed her. The 2 other pups stayed on the ground. They came for 4 days straight. On the 5th day no one came. 3 days later, the 3 pups showed up in bad shape. I called the wildlife rescue center. They said the pups were born late in the season and probably wouldn't survive winter as they hadn't had time to eat enough, but they wouldn't take them in. I didn't know what to do. I've always been told not to feed raccoons, but I felt these pups would not live through winter if they didn't fatten up. I feel extremely guilty as I chose to start feeding them. I did put the food ( mix of high protein puppy chow and fruits), in different spots, so they might learn to forage for food-not just come to the porch. I believe 2 didn't make it, but 1 showed up on my porch while I was there. He looked skinny so I fed him right there with me sitting. I've decided if he makes it through winter, I will not feed him any longer, but I am very torn as to whether I've done the wrong thing. There were nights I sat out, and I FELT mama nudge me, but I turned around, and she wasn't there. I felt like her spirit was asking me to help her pup. Yes, I know that sounds insane. No one but my son knows I'm feeding pup. That's what I call him. I hope I'm not a horrible person for choosing to feed him through the winter. I still treat him as a wild animal, and have never tried to pet him. I do like talking to him, though. I hope I haven't done something terribly wrong.
