I'm glad the French player kept some cavalry for the end of the fight. So many Napoleon players throw away their cav right at the start for no reason even though cav gains value as the infantry gets whittled away and morale shocks become more likely to rout the enemy

its a habit i gaind in the single player fast cav atack against general and arty and the ai alredy has lost but in multiplayer when you do this most likely you lose your cav and the battle next

Napoleon's naval battles are a delight, both visually and playable. I like Shogun 2 navals more, but only because of the setting and variety. Napoleon navals have so much depth in the strategies that it could perfectly be a different game.

I think the enemy team might win if Prussia just retreat those unit instead of charging uphill when they are out of ammo. Even if they are out of ammo, they still can tie up enemy unit, but when they break they are not going to tie up anything.

The way how most battles seem to be always hanging on a balance and even a normal line infantry unit and some hill slopes can change the course of battle is what makes it better than the normal sword and shield TW game for me. 33:15 if you want to RP and be realistic, use thin lines for firing as was common (Think thin red line) and columns for infantry assaults (as napoleon did) but have blocks of 120 infantrymen with 20 shooting at any time is neither historical or effective.

Should have charged the second Prussian artillery. Having attacked the first set of guns means it’s gunners are off their guns and the player has to go and sort them out again. Or if he doesn’t, the gunners will chase your cavalry. For some reason haha

Man, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the pacing, positioning, and how frontlines actually exist in this game. The rate that a unit dies during firefights means that line fighting can last 5-10 minutes, ACTUALLY GIVING other units and cav enough time to reposition and find advantageous situations. It such a change from W2TW where units are annihilated within 30 seconds of combat. I feel like this is how every Total War game should play and it hurts me so much to see that this wasn't emulated in the successive titles, particularly with W2TW because the fantasy genre has so much potential but the gameplay is horrible.

Thin lines aren't actually ahistorical. British were famous for their double line where both lines would fire, even tho in the game only the front rank shoots. This is how they dealt with final french assault at waterloo.

I agree the bigger units and 8 artillery per unit makes it much more immersive as armies would have had dozens or hundreds of cannon in RL and it makes arty very important. In NTW it almost feels like a waste to bring just 4 cannon per unit that barely kills anyone. Some mods other than darthmod look good except most dont have fire by rank, instead the whole unit, even the guys in the back rank are magically able to shoot thru their comrades right in front.
