Having experience with some proas I have a question about yours. I see only 1 stay. Am I correct in assuming it has only 1? If so does the connection at the boom and yard arm work not only as a device to hold the sail but also as a stay system as well?

Thank you for interesting question. There are 2 stays in general, but when sailing only 1 is actually engaged and the yard plays a role in stabilizing the mast. It looks like there is only a backstay acting and forestay has slack. During shunt the backstay gets loose as it plays forestay now and so far forestay becomes backstay and starts acting.
