This portrays people who are deeply unhappy and trying to fill the void in their lives with objects, which, while sad, is not every consumer of electronics. I do own an iphone, it is 3 years old and still works perfectly. I dropped it countless times with no issues(it has a protective rubber case). I see no use in changing it for a newer model... but I bought it for work, not to fill some kind of void.

During all my life i have had 3 cell phones. right now i have an Iphone XR that i have had it since April of the last year . My last phone was an iPhone 8 that i have for a year and a half. I think that is sad the way in which time we enjoy doing other things is sad, and we buy just to buy, things are now designed so you have to buy more and more. I think we should be aware of the year we make to the planet and take care of our things so that they last longer

Yes that's the dilemma our world is confronted with and going over the conversation under this video it seams that some people really fall for this system and think its a good thing. We can have comfort and high technologies and still be sustainable but not in a capitalistic run system because it works like a cancer cell, it needs to grow and win against competition all the time, the result is not the best product for humans but for the company/country/organisation. We need a new way of living on this planet which allows advanced technologies alongside a sustainable environment.

This is easily solved by building and using hydrothermal reactors where the earth freely gives us all the minerals it has from ocean floor vents also giving us free geothermal energy in the process as well as distilled fresh water to drink.
@AlbertTheLaine8 жыл бұрын
+jomossino79 Dude, pushing some of those minerals to the drinking water helps, as the human body absorbs sole distilled water rather badly.
@E-BikingAdventures8 жыл бұрын

This video is not about buying phones, its just an example. Its about the unecessary consumption and how it effects our environment. We are buying stuff we dont need so we consume a lot and that leads to pollution.

I always get so so depressed when I see the lines of people queuing outside Apple stores all night to get their hands on the latest phone when the doors open in the morning. That glee when they've got their hands on the new phone will last about 5 minutes... until the next model is announced. It's ceaseless. Round & round it goes. Sometimes I want to shout when I see these lines: "It's just stuff, don't hold it in such high regard". Sadly from looking at the comments below with people largely stating how many/few iPhones they've owned, it's too late, we've been completely hypnotised into a cycle of work/buy/consume/die. Depressing? yes certainly. We need to wake up.

Cool video but I'm sick of message - we get it already. Find me someone who didn't know about this problem. My issue is lack of answers. It's not as simple as turning off your shit and moving on. The loudest voices are realistically actually doing nothing. The message is old and familiar. If you really want to "change the story", then there needs to be methods developed to increase recycling effectiveness, and you need see more companies turning landfills and waste deposits into something positive not only for the planet, but for our growing and expanding lifestyle as we push towards the stars. All that being said, I really did enjoy the video. Love me some animation.

Like Gandhi said, "be the change you wish to see in the world". I keep telling myself that I'll start tomorrow, but being brought up in a society where the economic structure is reliant on rampant consumerism, learning how to not over consume, proves to be a difficult task. Most likely, we collectively will not change until we are forced.
@BlazerBoy133710 жыл бұрын
Wrong. The biggest change that could happen is for the masses to stop consuming the way they do. It's easy to say "It's the corporation's fault, THEY need to do something", but by doing that you claim no responsibility for yourself. If people stop buying, then the mass productions will eventually stop and the resources could go towards protecting what little we have left of the ecosystems that keep the human race alive. Is that happening? No, it's not. If it's not it means that the message was not yet received. As simple as that.
@b0shica10 жыл бұрын
Blazer 100% I share your opinion. Everybody is saying that 'We already know about this problem'... Ok... But my question to them would be:'Ok. So you know there is a problem... What are YOU doing to solve it, except that you are blaming the society and corporations and so on? Is the government fault that we let them steal everything? No. Is somebodies else fault that you are not happy? No. I do not think that the cable company put a gun on your head and asked: make a contract for us NOW. Is anybody else pushing the ON button on your remote when you go home and this is the first think you do?'. I use internet only from my work and when I work from home. Also I do the same with the TV... I do not use it at home, only when I play a game (rarely) on my console and that is it. Also, when I watch documentaries, but this is happening very very rare. I do not feel the need to watch the TV, I didn't feel the need to smoke anymore and I do not feel the fear to be alone with me and my mind. You should think that you control your mind and body, not other way around... It sounds very simple but once you start to remove everything from your life that disturbs you from being you (one at a time, of course) you will start to realize how simple it is to feel at peace with yourself and everything around you.
@AnthroArcade10 жыл бұрын
Mugur Matei With me I'm not seeking to blame the corporations. We let them get that way. We let the polticians get that way too. Often times when people lament to me how say the men in Congress are self serving I ask "And whose fault is that?" trying to get at the idea that it's OUR fault. Corporations may be the ones producing and doing things, but we're the ones enabling them by buying things. Coroprate is crafty; if they see something isn't pulling in profits, nine out of ten times they'll cut that or change it. People complain, but they still buy their iPhones. ~Niko
