also the whole disrupting the dream forces you to wake up thing is actually a real phenomenon, one common trick to forcibly escape a dream is to first realize it’s a dream (thus lucid dreaming) and secondly fly straight upwards. Granted this dream seems much more realistic so that isn’t very possible, but “challenging the narrative of the dream” is a way to wake up forcibly.

My theory for that is that if dreams are mostly to process stuff that happened during the day, realizing you're dreaming defeats the purpose, cus now you just got more stuff to process, like the fact you're dreaming right now. So your brain just goes ''screw this'' and wakes you up
