I would have liked to see you go around a corner to see how the design worked. I like using decorative stitches on the binding.

Thanks for the great demonstration! This is a good reminder that many of our machines have decorative stitches, and binding is a great place for them. :)

An edge stitch foot is a must for perfect finishing of binding. (Bernina's walking foot has and edge-stitch/stitch in ditch foot). I believe that attaching to the back and bringing to the front is best practice for machine binding.

I just have to say, I too bring binding back to front, and there are now 3 people in the world that know this! Why sew blindly when b2f works so well? Makes me crazy even my local quilting pals are not so sure it’s okay ! Arrrrgh! (Thanks, I feel better now😊)

@@janlarson3408 B2F Support Group meets on every third Wednesday. There is NO question that it is best practice (for machine binding)--it will become mainstream!

I sew mostly baby quilts that will get washed a lot. Attach the binding to the back and sewn down on the front. At first, I wasn’t thrilled about seeing the stitches on the back, so I try to match the color of the back fabric . Works for me!

Great tip for how to use decorative stitches. Saved for future reference. Oh my goodness, you have to tell us how to make that jacket. The blanket is wonderful too. By the way, you know I’m a Brother girl, but really enjoying the Kaffe 475!

When I use the clips when binding I prefer to face the color side of the clip to the back. Then the clear side is flat and holds the binding flattened. 😊

I would love that book of stitches even though I don't have a Bernina (I have Janome and Brother machines). Back when I had Home Ec circa 1968 the knee thing was the 'foot pedal'. I have them for my machine, but the minute I sit down to sew, I use my foot on the foot pedal and then my knee is pushing the knee thingy and that is not good. All those years ago and my knee still wants to be boss!LOL!

Thank you for demonstrating the edge pressure foot. I have a Bernina 820. Can you add more decorative stitches to the machine? Seems like different machines have different stitches and wondered if there is a way to add other decorative stitches to the machine.

I really wish I hadn’t seen this. Now I want to trade in my 6 month old 475 for this one😂😂. I have a Tula 770, which I’ll never trade in, but not gonna lie, the Kaffe 770 would look FABULOUS in my purple sewing room.

That was the point, to get us to buy the machine. We were not able to see the decorative stitches she put on the binding, and in much of the video her hands were in the way and we couldn’t see what she was doing.

I’d like the idea of a design in the binding- but I didn’t see ANYTHING!! Most of the time her hand was covering everything and when I zoomed in, I saw absolutely no stitches. A waste of time if that’s what you want to see.

I wish you would have tried to keep your hand out of the way you couldn’t see it while it was sewing. More sewing and less selling your sewing foot.
