Unlikely to stretch or not be straight if 100% cotton unless so thin not likely to be good for quilting. If it ever does, tug on the bias and it should pop back.

Wow, indeed, I’ve never seen anyone ripping “quilting fabric” & would never even think of it….The only fabric I will rip is RAGS!!!

Ripping the fabric makes it straight on the grain. Before I start to cut I tear a straight edge. Starch press then start cutting
@karenavey21836 ай бұрын
LOVE ripping fabric!
@JoyfulStitching6 ай бұрын
Prints are not printed to straight grain. For garment sewing i like to pull a thread to find straight grain, never rip. Then the garnet can be hang correctly when worn etc. Quilting is a whole other thing. It can badly distort and even pull weft threads, distorting the printed image. To be a quilter that eventually takes on more complicated patterns, maybe explore not using tearing as a technique. Your colors you chose are lovely.

Did a couple of bagello quikts but didnt shift them a whole block at a time. Only shifted a half a block side to side so the shift appeared more fluid. Also, yhe more narrow the strips, the sharper the curve appears to be, coming to sharp peqks and valleys, while the wide strips make gentle sweeping curves. Love these!

There are so many ways to make a quilt. We will never always agree on someone's process. Another question is, to pre wash or not. I never prewash. Many years ago, we made quilts with what we had. I think sometimes we've become terrible quilt snobs. Do what works best for you.

love the pattern - but not ironing and sewing over needle or tearing the fabric is a total nogo for me. try ironing it´ll make a huge difference! And try to put the needles from the other side in - makes it easy to get them out while sewing. i recognized, that you are pulling on the fabric while running it through - is there something wrong with the transporter? That should not be needed with just that two layers of fabric.
